    For me, this song speaks about a troubled man who went through so many terrible things in life, including a very important person's death. Because of all the pain he went through, he thought God never existed. He ended up giving up on life. When he died and his soul was in the corner of heaven and hell, he found God, smoking cigarette and telling him he could ask anything (which for me, was just a figurative representation of how much he wanted to tell God everything he wanted to tell Him like asking Him why He had let him go through so much pain on Earth).

    "Its about the disappointment, the heart ache, the let down that comes with life. Sometimes you're let down, sometimes you're the one who lets someone else down. It gets hard to know who you can trust, who you can count on. This song came out of a tough time, and I'm still right in the thick of it. There's some difficult circumstances my family and friends have been going through over the past year or so and can be overwhelming. It wears on me. It demands so much of my faith to keep believing, keep hoping in the unseen. Sometimes the tunnel has a light at the end, but usually they just look black as night. This song is about that feeling, and the hope that I still have, buried deep in my chest." Isaac Slade, the lead singer said this!

    I feel that this song is about a man who struggles with many things in life, especially losing a loved one. In this song I thinks it's a girlfriend or his mother. No one would know him better than his mother. Hes asking god for answers. I feel that God was there waiting to take this woman home to heaven and that's where he finds him. He's asking where he was and why he never answered. But as Garth Brookes said, "Some of God greatest gifts are unanswered prays" That woman was probably struggling in life and God ended the struggle. We never understand why people have to die and leave us, but the Kingdom is far greater than this place! I think that this song goes hand and hand with 'How to save a life". I feel for the guy. Something terrible must have happened to him. He gets it off his chest through his songs. And powerful songs they are! Do you Feel me?!?

    Try reading the Book of Job in the Old Testament. Even though we must suffer pain and death on this earth God is with us always. We are angry with God for letting war and other human suffering happen to us. Like the caterpillar who must force their out of the cocoon we to are born into pain through birth. It is only through living life with love for others that we find God in ourselves.

    I think it was a man who had no one in his life to love him, or at least all those who did left him, and so he went and tried to kill himself on the corner of frist and amistad and then someone came by, "smoking [their] last cigarette" and when the man speaks, he thinks he's god because he's dying, and then he realives why he was trying to kill himself, and then he dies.
    That's what I think.

    I think this song may not have been meant to be written about God, however I can draw my own connections and conclusions that definately have God in it. This song is written from the human perspective. He puts God in a human form (smoking a cigarette.) He is questioning God why he was too late. Why he took everything from him. In our eyes, it may seem like He was too late. In reality, it was our own fault. We weren't looking in the right places. He was there the whole time. Personally I find myself looking in the wrong places to find peace and happiness, but when we realize that God has been there the whole time, we just need to take the effort to find Him.

    When I first heard this song I loved it. I do like other fray songs too. But then I listened to the lyrics more closely, and to me it sounds like this:
    the guy's girlfriend leaves him, and he feels terrible. When he's "lying on the ground" he had commited suicide, and "you found me" tells me that the girl felt guilty but when she visited him she was "just a little late." I know there are a lot of ways this song could be taken, but this is just how I see it.

    I know this isn't really what most people think this song is about, but in my opinion I think that its about a guy who comits suicide and is saying, where were you when I needed you, and that if someone had of called him, he wouldnt have done it, and I think that when he says "you found me lying on the floor" I think they found him dead, and yes I know, its pretty different from most people opinions on the song, but that's just mine :)

    -watching the movie "Parenthood", and looking for the part where the grandma is couseling either her son (the father--Steve Martin), or some other person in the story.
    She refers to life as being like a roller coaster ride. Sometimes it's up and sometimes it's down, but when you get off the ride, your heart is racing and you feel exhilerated and alive, and you run around to get back in line.
    Life, albeit, God; are the ground that the roller coaster is built on, and your life experiences are just the ups and downs and twists and turns of the ride itself.
    Another good part of a movie is "Bruce Almighty", when he prays instead of for posession of (Jennifer Anniston), to be able to let her go.
    God's relationship with us is personal; He does unique things for each of us for very specific reasons and they are invariably for our good.

    I'm thinking none of the last few posters have found God?
    Many of us find Him when we are at our absolute lowest, whether it is from self-destruction, or the loss of a loved one (a boyfriend/grilfriend, et al, either to death or just a break-up).
    We confuse Him finding us with us finding Him ("I found God" and "You found me"). We may start by blaming Him, for our woes ("where were you?" and "why'd you have to wait?").
    I think there might be two stories intertwined, here, plus some lyrical fancy to fit it into a the rhythm & cadence of a "song".
    I think our intimate love for another is like our intimate love for God (or lack thereof) in some very peculiar ways. We come to God when we're down and beaten ("lost and insecure").
    I think the writer found love in this partner of his, and paradoxically at the end of that love, found the even deeper love of God. God loves us more than we are even capable of understanding, so at times it can be confusing and mis-perceived, and it is a struggle.
    Alas, to be human.
    To anyone experiencing this complex set of emotions (and many of us have), I'd suggest.

    I think that he is talking about how the girl he had he lost and she was his world much like god would be what you belive in she was what he belived in and finding her was like god had sent him a message. But it was to bad he found him/her to late because he had given up hope. Or at least he thought because hope can always be resorted.

    I take this song as someone talking to God, asking him why he waited till now (that's hes dead lying on the floor on the corner of 1st and Amistad) to find him. All he needed was a sign and God never gave him one. Btw Amistad was a slave ship that later became a symbol in the movement to abolish slavery. So basically he was on the corner of Freedom/No Freedom? And 1st when he died. That's just my understanding of the song though.

    This song makes me cry every time I hear it i's such a beutiful wrtten song and the music wow! That blew my mind the gutiar in it omg! So cool! The fray are of the biggest bands in the world just like kings of leon and stuff. These guys just can go ahead and never stop the fray are just one of the best bands 'you found me' is the biggest song in Australia and not only that but there selftilted new album is selling like really fast I better get myself a copie before they sell out. The fray are passionate about there work like clodplay they put feeling into there work not like other bands were they just write it sing it done they think of the words and the music the patten and yeah so the fray once agian are masters at writing songs and just not this song cable car is one over my head you found me soon it's going to be never say never they're 2nd single of the album great work fellas keep it up we all love you and please come to austrlaia agian! Great work!

    I think it's very much the idea of "Where have YOU been? I hung around and waited, and I've been doing this on my own?" The imagery of God doing nothing and smoking a cigarette on the corner really gives the impression that he just hasn't been listening. Regardless of your own theological leanings, everyone has this experience of dealing with their problems alone and feeling like they lack anyone to lean on. The speaker goes on to list how he's felt abandoned of late and now he's been "found". The song has a very positive, feel good chord structure, but the lyrics give it a feeling of hopelessness. Of an unwinnable struggle. However, I hink the idea that he's finally been "found" give the idea that maybe he no longer has to struggle alone. I still think that the words are an angry accusation, the kind of accusation we've all given at one time or another.

    Ok so the in the song, he meets god. Face to face, which happens when? When you die. The speaker tells god that he felt he was never there for him in life, because he lost everything (losing her, the only one who's ever known who I am). So basically he had a difficult life and then a girl came to him and he loved her and she was the only one who could truly understand and get through to him. Then he lost the girl. He would clearly be depressed. All he needed to save him was a call or a message or a letter, but none ever came. I asume he commited suicide, (lying on the floor, surrounded) possible meaning surrounded by concerned people. Then god found him, but just a little late.
    Basically the song is depressing and sad but still a great song.
