Ok so the in the song, he meets god. Face to face, which happens when? When you die. The speaker tells god that he felt he was never there for him in life, because he lost everything (losing her, the only one who's ever known who I am). So basically he had a difficult life and then a girl came to him and he loved her and she was the only one who could truly understand and get through to him. Then he lost the girl. He would clearly be depressed. All he needed to save him was a call or a message or a letter, but none ever came. I asume he commited suicide, (lying on the floor, surrounded) possible meaning surrounded by concerned people. Then god found him, but just a little late. Basically the song is depressing and sad but still a great song.
