I think it was a man who had no one in his life to love him, or at least all those who did left him, and so he went and tried to kill himself on the corner of frist and amistad and then someone came by, "smoking [their] last cigarette" and when the man speaks, he thinks he's god because he's dying, and then he realives why he was trying to kill himself, and then he dies.
That's what I think.
