I feel that this song is about a man who struggles with many things in life, especially losing a loved one. In this song I thinks it's a girlfriend or his mother. No one would know him better than his mother. Hes asking god for answers. I feel that God was there waiting to take this woman home to heaven and that's where he finds him. He's asking where he was and why he never answered. But as Garth Brookes said, "Some of God greatest gifts are unanswered prays" That woman was probably struggling in life and God ended the struggle. We never understand why people have to die and leave us, but the Kingdom is far greater than this place! I think that this song goes hand and hand with 'How to save a life". I feel for the guy.
