Jack Stauber – Baby Hotline lyrics
Baby Hotline
Please hold me close to you
Baby flatline
Still time to do it too
Baby snack time
Chow down to earth but in your head

She's a hoarder of quarters
And no boundary boredom
No boundary boredom

I can tell that your drinking eye
Has never opened

I insist somebody will die
And I hate moping
Wishing that the pills let you cry
And I hate hoping
Someday I will go back outside
And see her ok

I personally think it's about a person calling a suicide hotline but failed because they're put on hold (Hung up and put it on hold, My line is getting cold). Since they've been put on hold, they have thoughts of killing themselves (I won't stay more anymore, oh I don't even think about it). We can also tell that the person has been dealing with depression from the lyrics 'Wishing that the pills let you cry, and I hate coping' which means that they have used pills to cope with their depression.
I personally think that this is the song meaning, please correct me for any mistakes! This is Jack Stauber's song after all.

I always thought the song explained the death of a spouse after birth and the child survives and left for him to take care of said child and baby hotline is kinda like any other hotline but maybe for single parents that have no clue what to do or how to raise a child the line "hold me close to you" stands for most likely expresses what the man felt as he watched her leave so suddenly just having every urge in his body to hold her close hoping for it to not be true. The line baby flatline would stand for the flatline on the beep beep machine (I forget the name) and when she died. The line "still time to do it too" might stand for abortion or try again and start fresh (as in an illution like he still has time) if it is abortion he couldve not wanted the child from the beginning almost scared about parenting (yes this is a thing look it up if you must) the line "baby snack time" could stand for before the child was born (going farther into his delusions still seeing her there despite her being gone) as in it's time for a snack and hes reminding her its snack time. Now the line "chow down to earth but in your head" goes into his hallucinations deeper as if imagining he is on a date with her. "Shes a hoarder of quarters and no boundary boredom no boundary boredom" now bare with me the quarters stand for him barely scraping by money wise to take care of his child and is pretty poor and he remembers the his old spouse used to collect quarters (as if to make a good memory out of the bad one before (or trying to cope with the pain)) then he also remembers back to a time he was never bored with her but now he is always bored with his child around (cause would you rather have a baby to talk to or a full grown human being?) "I can tell that your drinking eye Has never opened" stands for addiction as in he is now drinking as a coping mechanism (it's more common than most would think) he then falls into despair that everyone will die on him just as his spouse had (it's quite a hopeless feeling I've have suffered from it before) but he hate dwelling on what happened but also cant control it "I insist somebody will die and I hate moping". The lines "wishing the pills let you cry and I hate hoping" stands for how he had been prescribed but the pills arent helping (which can be common aswell) and coping with the pain isnt any easier and he hates hoping for the pills to work despite he always still will. And last but not least "someday I will go back outside and see her ok" is him wishing she was still here with him raising their child together rather than him raising them alone. But that's just my thoughts think what ya like

Maybe it’s like the song “the riddle anthem” there is no actual meaning to the words.. the song is just there for you to make up a meaning? Besides, idk if the creator of the song will say it’s true meaning or not.. hopefully they do if the song has an actual meaning so we’re not left in confusion..

So I think this song is about suicide and the suicide hotline. People dealing with depression, suicidal thoughts, etc are usually depicted as a "baby" and the song is called "Baby hotline". Then for the lyric "She's a hoarder of quarters" could be about how expensive therapy, medication, and getting help is. "Wishing that the pills let you cry and I hate coping," pills, like anti depressants, try to stop you from crying, hence the lyric. "Hung up and put on hold!" the suicide hotline puts people on hold.. a lot unfortunately, and the next line supports my statement, saying it is a hotline. Then the line, "No flatline, what were you scared about" also tells about how people just ignore it when someone is dealing with it because they aren't dead or visually hurting them self in their line of sight. Then we have the lyrics,
    "Numb, feeling burning with haste
And I'm realizing now it's a terrible waste
I feel numb, I've been burning with haste
    And I'm realizing now it's a terrible waste" x2
Is about how you feel numb when you have a mental illness. You just cant feel anything and realize how much life is just a huge waste.
    "Sunbathe 'til the morning time
    And your e-eyes
    Will open wide
    (What a waste)
    Oh baby, nevermind
    And my si-ight
    Oh, run and hide"
References to how people with mental illness have a hard time getting up in the morning and are overwhelmed with things that they just dont have the energy to do anything but go back to sleep.

Yeah I'd say this song is most likely about depression and suicide given the lines "Wishing that the pills let you cry" and "I insist somebody will die." The pills part could be about anti-depressants, as others have already stated, and the insisting somebody will die part could be him saying that he's going to end his life.

There's not really a crystal clear definition though. So who knows?
Only Jack Stauber himself could confirm or deny the meaning of the song. So hopefully there'll be some kind of interview with him and in which he could say the meaning of it, but maybe that's just too optimistic of a thought. Hmmmmmmm....

I always thought the song was about a suicide hotline or something? Like- "Baby hotline, please hold me close to you" is maybe the caller looking for comfort? And the "I insist someone will die" is the person being suicidal- And the "Wishing that the pills let you cry" is like- anti-depressants?- I don't know- I might just have a pessimistic view on the world lol

honestly I always thought this sing was about someone's partner comiting suicide, and then the song is just about them trying to cope like the lyric "wishing that the pills let you cry..." could be them overdosing on like pills in attempt to cope. also the title "baby hotline" could be an alternate way of saying a suicide hotline but idk this just what I thought when I first heard it.

I always thought this song was about the abuse of drugs from a spouse and how the other SO deals with it. Perhaps the first thing is that the song starts with this very nice tone of voice. But before you know it, it goes on to say "She's a hoarder of quarters with no boundary boredom". Perhaps this is showing that the narrator SO uses change given to her, even through uncomfortable situations, in order to get what she needs, which in this could be drugs. "I content that your drinking eye has never opened" is another important part of this meaning interpretation because it's saying that, while 'she' is doing these drugs, they are by no means really helping her replenish her 'thirst' for something else, which is what Narrator means by this. Then, he says: "I insist somebody will die and I hate moping", this is most likely talking about how he tells his SO that abusing these drugs will eventually lead her to a fatal overdose, and he even says that he doesn't like 'moping', trying to tell her that he tries his best not to worry unless it's in an important situation. The more obvious one is "wishing that the pills let you cry and I hate hoping". He (the Narrator) is probably a cut and dry person, but he wants Baby Hotline (the 'her' in this song) to stop using pills as a way to control her sadness and wants her to pour it all out. The last part I want to address is "Someday I will go back outside and see her okay" which is basically saying he wants to see his SO OK. Not happy. Not sad. Simply living life without the overinfluence of drugs. There's more, but this is what I'll address here!

Maybe It's about a suicide hotline client and the reciever also getting traumas about them, like what if the client commit suicide, and that explains the line of wishing the pills let you cry for the client, and the coping and hoping of the reciever that the client is ok, when it hungs up. And maybe the rest of the song that is almost nonsense like wrapping it in a cinnamon is the reciever getting insane?

one of my closest friends insists that this song is about abortion which is whack but the more I listen to it I guess I can kind of see it I don't remember everything he says but the "I insist somebody will die" part is saying that the fetus will be deletus but that'd just a theory and I don't want to say something controversial by accident I don't know if everyone here is pro-choice like me

At the very last part that starts with "I can tell that your drinking eye is never open" that lyric I think that the whole last part means that somebody close to ___ Could have died. ___ insists that she will die but nobody listens and the part with the pills could be "Happy pills" maybe but I'm not sure. ___ wishes that their pills would let them cry. And ___ hates hoping that she will come back. They believe that they will go back outside and that she will be ok once again. I might be reaching but I don't know I'm kind of new to this. I might have left a lot of holes in this theory so be aware.

This song sounds like my jacked mental health :D

but seriously, this song really does sound like my brain when I'm crying for someone who means something to me, or when blaming myself for something. Not all of the lines reflect this, but it sounds a lot like a jumble of mixed bad and (somewhat encouraging) thoughts this person is having. No one really has had the same experience, so such means different to every person.

To me this song is about some one who has a family member/ loved one who is in the hospital and probably in a coma, and they are waiting for the call to see if they survived or died. And on one hand they love the person and want them to live, but at the same time it's getting harder and hard for them to afford all of the medical expenses. So they desperately hope that all the pills and surgeries they payed for work because they want to able to see that person alive and well again. This surgery is the last thing they can do before they can no longer afford to keep this person alive. And all they can do is anxiously wait for the call.

I personally think that this is about two people.
the first text (from "baby hotline" to "no boundary boredom") its a girl calling a suicide line, to help herself and this is ok. Why I said a girl?
Because, in the second text ( from "I can tell that your drinking eye" etc to "and see her ok" ), it seems that the person that is trying to helping her is suffering of some issuses too. And, in fact, he's hoping to see HER ok some day. I think that the person that is trying to help her is depressed or maybe is suffering of anxiety. Because he/she hopes that the girl will feel better. Even if he/she says "I hate hoping" it's because he/she is really stressed because it seems like he dosent know how to fight this serious situation..
The sentence "wishing that the pills let you cry" may be confusing, because it seems like he/she wants her to be sad but no: I dont know if everyone knows but the real depression is when you cant cry. So, he/she is wishing the best for her! And when it says "I insist somebody will die" it's because he/she thinks of his/her self that isnt a good therapist and his/her fear is that he/she cant save every of his/her clients. And maybe when it says "I can tell that your drinking eye has never opened" its because the girl didnt understand that the therapist is sad or depressed too.

This is my tought, also bad english qwq

    I think that it may be about somebody who has gone through a traumatic experience as an adult, which has depressed them, and the varying mood of the song is their mood swings on anti- depressants. I think they are remembering the person who passed and are trying to convince themselves that they are still out there somewhere, but deep down they know that it's too good to be true for example in this phrase;
"Someday I will go back outside and see you? Okay..."

I also think that it is the person remembering a happier time, for example, when they were a child, and them wanting to go back to that happier time, by trying to call it, the baby hotline.

This is just my theory I don't know tho. Jack Stauber is a god

i feel like jack's songs always have a meaning in it and i feel this songs meaning is a connection that the someone keeps attempting to stay in contact with the loved one, but it doesn't seem to work, and at some point, the person will need to accept it. OR its suicide which is the more likely one tbh... OR OR OR!!! IT COULD BE ABOUT A WHOLE DIFFRENT HOTLINE! idk man that just a thought dude. its just a really sad song ya know for all we know it could be about a birthday party(that's a joke) the real sad part is that we'll never know what the songs really about until jack tells us the meaning. BUT THIS IS JUST MY THOUGHTS!!!!

Over all, I think everyone has sort of come to the conclusion that this song talks about someone calling a suicide hotline and being put on hold, leading them to end their own life. It seems to be implied that the person was also an alcoholic, based on the line, “I can tell your drinking eye has never opened” and I think it fits the over all theme of Jack Stauber songs, seeing as there are quite a few that also have themes of struggling with addiction, such as Coffee and Hope. Also, based on the line, “wishing that the pills let you cry” I’m going to assume that this implies an addiction to anti-depressants as well as alcohol. Over all, I think the songs, Dinner is not over and Doctor come before baby hotline and tell the story of this man, who is trying to help there struggling loved one through there mental illness, (I’m also going to assume that this loved one is a girlfriend of sorts, going by the lyrics in Doctor and the fact that the part is sung by a woman). The songs seem to talk about how they’re trying to convince this person not to commit, but by the time of baby hotline (or the end of dinner is not over, we kinda of see what seems to be an implied death, so take that for what you will, all of this is just based on the music video) there no longer talking to this person, there telling the story of how they ended there life, and the line “some day I will go back outside and see her ok” seems to imply there now struggling with mental issues aside from just grief (and maybe some form of guilt). The song Cupid could take place right after this (I’m not 100% sure on where Cupid would go in this song timeline) based on the fact that it talks about the pain that comes with love, and seemingly loosing someone that this person loved dearly.

SIDE NOTE AGAIN: i hear a voice saying "ok- uh- i'll try again''. meaning they hang up, and try calling again, which leads us to the second verses. and when it says baby flatline, the person commits suicide.

side note 2: i just heard the verse "when i go outside i'll see her again."

    this song is really depressing.

to be honest, i think baby hotline is about a suicidal lady who gets on a suicide hotline and they put her on hold, so she walks outside and hangs/shoots/slits her self, because she cant take it anymore. thus, her husband walks outside and finds her dead.

side note: r.i.p lady. its a sad song, its agreeable with me.

Okay, so with this song, I think the meaning of it is jack maybe had a lover or a wife who died of suicide or a birth issue. Many people have said with the “baby hotline” lyric is her calling the ambulance because maybe she’s giving birth. Whereas, a lot of other people have said “baby hotline” means suicide hotline in a different term, which I think may be a bit better explanation. There are theories that she had a baby, which lead to her death, life issue. The other theory is that she had suicidal intent, and jack told her to contact “baby hotline”.

When it says “baby flatline” it’s either her and or her baby dying, or they hang up/ put his partner on hold, and they go and commit suicide.

When people say the “baby snack time” and “chow down to earth but in your head” it’s about eating disorder and in taking some type of drug, to keep her or him happy (“wishing that the pills let you cry”).

When it says “she’s a hoarder of quarters” it’s maybe she had to use a public payphone, and didn’t want to talk about death in her home.

    What if the song is
Just there and there is no meaning?
What makes us believe that we need an explanation for a song? We're just needy little gremlins aren't we? Yeah.
Though I like listening to this song whenever I draw angsty stuff (yknow how it be sometimes) and honestly it be cool.
    But like
    Why ?
    What's the point of anything?
Just make one up if ur desperate for an explanation.
    Dam.
