Disturbed – Inside The Fire lyrics
Devon
Won't go to heaven
She's just another lost soul, about to be mine again
Leave her
We will receive her
It is beyond your control
Will you ever meet again

Devon
One of Eleven
Who had been rendered unwhole
As a little child.
She was taken
And then forsaken
You will remember it all
Let it fill your mind again

Devon lies beyond this portal
Take the word of one immortal
Give your soul to me
For eternity
Release your life
To begin another time with her
End your grief with me
There's another way
Release your life
Take your place inside the fire with her

Sever
Now and forever
You're just another lost soul about to be mine again
See her, you'll never free her
You must surrender it all
If you'd like to meet again

Fire
For you desire
As she begins to turn cold for the final time
You will shiver
Till you deliver
You will remember it all
Let it fill your mind again

Devon lies beyond this portal
Take the word of one immortal
Give your soul to me
For eternity
Release your life
To begin another time with her
End your grief with me
There's another way
Release your life
Take your place inside the fire with her

[Guitar Solo]

Give your soul to me
For eternity
Release your life
To begin another time with her
End your grief with me
There's another way
Release your life
Take your place inside the fire with her

Devon
One of Eleven
Who had been rendered unwhole
As a little child.
She was taken,
And then forsaken
You will remember it all
Let it fill your mind again

Guitarist Dan Donegan explained to Artist Direct about this tale of someone plunging into the afterlife in the hope of reuniting with his deceased girlfriend: "It's a really dark vision and the song, the lyrics and the meaning, is very dark. It's the darkest stuff that I think David (singer David Draiman) has ever written lyrically. It's about a girl he was in a relationship with. She's committed suicide, and he just has the voice of the devil over his shoulder trying to provoke him to take his own life to join her again, because the only chance for him to be with her again is if he takes his life. We're not condoning suicide off of this, it's just more of the temptation to join a girlfriend that was very confused and messed up and wanted out."

Wow, Disturbed is a really powerful band. It's one of those rare newer lyrics, but still old school kind of driveing melody. If you watch the full video its a lot easier to get this. He is seriously thinking about suicide because he wants to be with Devon. But in the end he beats it. I like that part. Also, the lead guitar wtf! One of the coolest solos I've ever heard. And that tapping technique is really interesting.

David lost his girlfriend to suicide. She committed herself because she was suffering from addiction to herion, back then david and devon was 17-18 years of age. David blame himself for years on her death madding him own self and asking should he re unite with his love or go on in life with out her. David also battle his demons with suicide because of devon, that's why one may hear a madding laugh through out the song if listen to it.

"Inside the Fire, of their new album Indestructible, deal with another rough part of his childhood, being the suicide of his girlfriend back in school. David was 14, and attended a private boarding school, she was 18 and a freshman at university. They met at a spring break party. Little did he know, she was also a heroin addict. David tried to get her to lay off, but unfortunately failed. Fearing disapproval from his family he then decided to end the relationship. They met once again a year after, at the following spring break party. Leaving early to avoid confrontation, David went back to his parent's house, where he got a call from a friend the next day, saying she had died of an overdose. David also stated in the interview that, in the ambulance, all she wanted was for him to be with her. He had nightmares for years afterwards, but he eventually got over it, until very recently, while working on the lyrics for the Indestructible album, he started to have them again. In the video of "Inside the Fire" he depicts what dealing with suicide could mean for those with religious backgrounds or beliefs, in that suicide is a sin and you can't go to heaven for it. After his ex-girlfriend's death, David got into a downward spiral involving drugs as well, but had an epiphany at the age of 18. He then realized the error of his ways, and went cold turkey."

This song is about his ex commiting suicide, Taken and then forsaken can be the whole foster thing but it can also take a religous look at God taking her from this world then condeming her to hell. The one of eleven is one I'm not sure at all but I have a guess that from Revalations in the bible that there will be 12 "prophets" and if the true one is killed satan will take his toll on the earth. 1 of 11 can mean 1 of the 11 false prophets.

Powerful song people who think taking there should read between. The lines in this song suicide is not the answer to your problems. It just destroys the people who love your pain lives on through them great song david.

Firstly, mcbananaburger, you sir are an idiot. If you liked Disturbed/David Draiman you would know this song is indeed about his ex-girlfriend when he was about 15 years old commiting suicide. He even told everyone when he wrote the song before Indestructible came out explaining the song and it's meaning. Also, this is a great song Disturbed is a great band matured a lot since "The Sickness" days. Still remember seeing thise guys in Chicago when they were known as "Brawl" pre-Draiman days.

When I read the lyrics I don't look at music videos just from looking at the lyrics it seems that his ex-girlfriend-friend ex. Couldn't stand the realality and actuality of life so she commited suicide and he felt as she and him were going to hell and that they had some connection towards the devil at one time in there life. So now he is indenial about her loving him and so forth.

I would fully agree that this is about his girlfriend committing suicide and being condemned to hell. My guess to the one of eleven is that she came from a family of eleven kids. ("One of Eleven") I also conclude that she was sexually abused as a child ("Who had been rendered unwhole
As a little child. ") and eventually taken from her family and the bounced around in the hell they call foster care. ("She was taken, And then forsaken")

I found out the very description of what it means.
The video begins with a girl hanging herself in her apartment. Draiman arrives at the apartment, to find her dead. He cuts her down and places her body on a couch, taking in what's happened. He then cleans her in a bathtub. He goes back out to the room in which she hanged herself, and looks out of the door, making sure no one is there. Mentally stricken, he takes a gun placed on the wall and aims the barrel into his own mouth and starts screaming. The camera then fades out and back in, showing Draiman restrained by a straitjacket, showing that he could not bring himself to commit suicide.

I don't fully understand the pain that the lead singer must have gone through when his girlfriend committed suicide. I have had people die that were close to me, but never has one of my close friends killed themselves. As a Christian, I believe that if you commit suicide, you go to Hell. I'm sorry for the dump, but it's true. This song is about Satan telling the lead singer to kill himself so he can be with her again.
