Have a strong feeling this is about kristina (italktosnakes on YouTube), he mentioned in an interview that the song was based on a girl he used to like but things weren't working out and that they realised they could still have a nice day as friends. Funnily enough around the time he wrote the song a video appeared of kristina and alex singing modern nature together although the description box said they were not dating.

I think it means that you don't have to be perfect to be able to make a memory (or something else special) "remember the time when we stole the whole day?
And nobody knows it, we took it away" it seems like it's referring to something simple, but something of great importance to them. Think of a time when you and someone you know spent some time together and made(a memory, ect.) something amazing. You guys stole the whole day, but nobody knows it.

I love alex day, he is a brilliant song writer and performer. For me, forever yours is about alex having this one girl he really cares for. Maybe they dated in the past or they've only ever had a plutonic relationship, but alex loves her or at least cares for her a lot. I think the girl definitely cares for him as well, but more as close friend. This is about alex coming to terms with how she truly feels about them, and accepting that they may never be anything more, or at least not right now. Alex is looking back on the great times they have had, and deciding he doesn't want to lose that connection. He'd rather be friends than nothing at all. He's saying they will have these memories forever, just him and her.
I find it difficult to just sum up his songs because I feel like there are so many possible layers. It's one thing I really enjoy about them, they are deep and actually mean something not only to him but anyone can relate to them. I can relate to this song, and it is one of my favorites. While I understand the possible friends aspect of the meaning, like between charlie and alex, I feel like when he says "darling" and "that makes you out of reach" it gives me more of a female romantic vibe. Either way it is a wonderful song. ~sullifer.
