It seems everyone gets that there is some type of abuse. But I think another message is the ridiculousness of apologizing to god to be forgiven of your acts, rather than apologizing to the people you wronged. That praying for forgiveness is a cop out for not actually having to face the person you wronged. Its so easy to pray for forgiveness from god, but very hard to face an adult who's life you ruined for abusing them as a little kid. I think that's a meaning everyone has missed so far. Ultimately its a commentary on society that we take the easy way out. At least that's how I see it.
