It's a release song, a what-the-f*k I'm gonna be happy song! It's saying, I can be happy on my own. It also is realizing that there is no hope in front of us, really, just dreams and pain. It's a first-time knowing of being hurt and trying to override that with a yearning to be happy. The singer almost wins the happiness battle within. The song has a lot of pride, so you love the person singing it. But the new version has a gunshot at the end, after a long pause, which makes it a suicide song, if anybody noticed.
