The second main thought sequence begins with "And" and ends with "treason;" in this sequence the narrator relates the "webs" to his indecision to call the loved one and cannot take action because he is caught, just as things caught in webs cannot take action. The spiders are related to the singer's loved one; just as the spider's catch things and eat their insides, the singer's loved one has done the same thing, but in an emotional way. When spiders are through with their meals, they cast away the empty shells of their victims; similarly, when the singer's loved one was done with him, she cast him away from her metaphorical web and left him with an empty shell, but only after revealing the act of "treason" or betrayal that she has committed in their relationship, which symbolizes the eating away of the insides.

The pronoun change from "we" to "I" from the first to second main lyrical bodies is important, where in the first lyrical body, the singer puts emphasis on the couple with the repetition of "we" which takes away focus from the first singer's self, while the second singer's repetition of "I" is self-centered to place emphasis on what he sees and feels, for he can't experience the shared feelings of a couple with someone who isn't there.

The second main lyrical body is sung by a new singer who has a higher pitched voice, and it is broken up into three main parts where the singer changes his thought processes, as if he's thinking about so many different things at once. His first thought sequence starts with "Where..." and ends with "...time," where the singer expresses a heavy reliance on his loved one and describes the emotional impact of her absence on him; the first line begins with him asking where his loved one is and apologizing, perhaps after an argument that occured late one night. He then says "I need somebody and always this sick strange darkness comes creeping on so haunting every time." One key thing here is the singer's word choice of "somebody" instead of "you" which suggests that the singer doesn't care who loves him as long as they give him the love that he needs, so even the singer demonstrates a sublte lack of loyalty just as his loved one does, but it's justified because of her "treason." The other key thing here is the singer describing the darkness as "sick," "strange," and "haunting" which sets up contrast between the first singers understanding of darkness, who is completely enveloped in it, and the second singers understanding of darkness, or perhaps, the lack thereof for he sees it as a foreign and manevolent, while the latter sees it as native and intrinsic to his very being.

Before proceeding to another main lyrical body, the words "I miss you" are repeated twice by the first singer, which shows that his loved one has left him alone, and he cannot stop thinking about her and can't move on.

The next three lines contain references to Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas and reveals the gender of the male singer's lover as he says "we can live like Jack and Sally if we want" and "we'll have Halloween on Christmas." The narrator compares himself to Jack, who is known as the "Pumpkin King" which embodies all things nightmarish and is the scariest being to exist, but he (the singer) also has a soft side because he shows affection to his love. Similarly to how Jack only understands the essence of Halloween, the singer only understands the essence of darkness and can only communicate his ideas based on the concept of darkness, as indicated not only by comparing himself to Jack, but also by saying "we'll have Halloween on Christmas;" Just as Jack doesn't understand the true essence of Christmas and can only capture Halloween, the narrator can only communicate through darkness or dark things, such as "nightmare," "morgue," "shadow," "Halloween," and, in the next line, "night."
In the next two lines, the singer says "And in the night we'll wish this never ends, we'll wish this never ends." But in the second repetition of "we'll wish this never ends" a new singer is introduced and is singing in harmony with the first singer. The importance of this shows how two very different singers share something in common, love, with the female and a wish for it to last forever. But the main difference between what the singers said is that the first singer says "And in the night" to show that love was founded in darkness, while the other singer's love origins remain unknown.

The first three lines of the main song begin with a male singer greeting and describing some unknown person using metaphors. The first description is of an "angel from my nightmare" which suggests that this person provides comfort, love, and safety amid terrifying things. The second description says "the shadow in the background of the morgue." Here, instead of the person representing an angel of truth, light, and life, he/she now represents a shadow lingering amid darkness, shrouded in mystery, and among death. This suggests that if the person being described is an angel in the singer's nightmare, but a shadow in a morgue, then his nightmare must be horrific beyond death so much that the person also being described as a mere shadow, the simplest form of darkness, is light to the singer.
The third description says the unknown person is "the unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley" where darkness is the shadow of death as referenced from the Bible. This description suggests that the singer knows that the person is a victim of the shadow of death, which may have or will execute some evil act such as claiming the life or lives of that particular person or his/her loved ones, even though he/she doesn't foresee this or something similar happening. The lack of this knowledge further emphasizes the dark atmosphere established already, for the person whom the singer describes was left in the dark, which means he/she wasn't informed.

The first lyrics of the song are introduced by a deep voiced male singing an echoing "I miss you." This indicates that whomever the male loved has left and gone away, but he still wants that person to be with him.
