Utada Hikaru – Kremlin Dusk lyrics
All along I was searching for my Lenore,
And the words of Mr. Edgar Allen Poe.
Now I'm sober and nevermore
Will the raven come to bother me at home?

Calling you, calling you home
You-you, calling you, calling you home...

By the door you said you had to go.
Couldn't help me any-any more.
This I saw coming long before,
So I kept on staring out the window.

Calling you, calling you home
You-you, calling you, calling you home...

I am a natural entertainer.
Aren't we all holding pieces of dying ember?
I'm just trying to remember who I can call
Who can I - I - I - I call?

Ohhh! Calling you, calling you

I run a secret propaganda.
Aren't we all hiding pieces of broken anger.
I'm just trying to remember who I can call
That I - I - I can...

Born in a world of opposite attracion,
Or is it or is it a natural conception.
Torn by the arms in the opposite direction,
So is it, or is it a modernist reaction.

Born in a world of opposite attraction,
Or is it or is it a natural conception.
Torn by the arms in the opposite direction,
So is it, or is it a modernist reaction.

Is it like this? Is it always the same?
When a heartache begins, is it like this?
Do you like this? Where you always the same?
Will you come back again? Do you like this?
(Background)Born in a world of opposite attraction,
Torn by the arms in the opposite direction,
Born in a world of opposite attraction,
Torn by the arms in the opposite direction,
So is it, or is it a modernist reaction...

Is it always the same,
And will you come back again?
Do you like this?
Oh, do you like this?

Is it like this? Is it always the same?
If you change the phone numbers, would you tell me?
(Background)Born in a world of opposite attraction,
Or is it or is it a natural conception.
Torn by the arms in the opposite direction,
So is it, or is it a modernist reaction...

Is it like this? Is it always the same?
When a heartache begins, is it like this?
If you like this, will you remember my name?
Will you play it again, if you like this?

"all along i was searching for my lenore... And the words of mr. Edgar allen poe. Now i'm sober and nevermore will the raven come to bother me at home... "
To me, the beginning of the song describes the end of her drug abuse (which, in my opinion, is always a good way to start a story; pulls the reader in), and now she is trying to figure out where her lover has gone.
And after she says, "calling you home... " she begins to reflect on the journey to becoming sober:.
"by the door you said you had to go; couldn't help me any anymore. This i saw coming long before, so i kept on staring out the window. "
This, to me, is pretty self explanatory; this could be a lover, mother, father, brother, sister (anyone that cares about her) giving up on helping her, and instead of reacting or promising to change (for fear of ultimate disappointment or something else even), she just stares out the window. Letting them leave (more than likely thinking, 'i saw this coming. No one truly loves or cares about me enough to stand by me and help me through this. ' or maybe she was too proud?). But deep down she knows that isn't true "calling you home. " once again.
"i am a natural entertainer. Aren't we all holding pieces of dying ember? " this part I'm not sure about; maybe she's talking about a part of herself that is dying or burning out, which may or may not be causing her anger when she says, "i run a secret propaganda. Aren't we all hiding pieces of broken anger. " that, and maybe realizing what she has done; driving away the only person that may have left everything behind just to help her, remembering that they are the only one that she could call when she hits rock bottom.
Just to shorten this up, I think that the part where she starts to question some things is where she makes the decision to change to bring back the one she loves, but most importantly for herself (hopefully); to be happy again. "is it like this this... Is it always the same? If you changed your phone number, would you tell me? Is it like this... Is it always the same when a heartache begins? Is it like this? "
And basically the very last part of the song is for her fans! "if you like this will you remember my name? Will you play it again if you like this? " I loved it the first time I heard it, and I played it over and over and over again :)
Anyway, this is just my opinion of the meaning of this song; there is no right or wrong answer, right? Hope it all makes some sense, cuz I'm not going back to proof read it! Enjoy. I think? Lol.
Edit: yeah, I had to come back and at least make some things grammatically correct. I may or may not have used a lot of semi-colons but. I don't really care too much about that, so I left those alone. Anyway! Once again, enjoy.
