The Forest Rangers – Come Join The Murder lyrics
There's a blackbird perched outside my window
I hear him calling
I hear him sing
He burns me with his eyes of gold to embers
He sees all my sins
He reads my soul

[Pre-Chorus]
One day that bird, he spoke to me
Like Martin Luther
Like Pericles

[Chorus]
Come join the murder
Come fly with black
We'll give you freedom
From the human trap
Come join the murder
Soar on my wings
You'll touch the hand of God
And He'll make you king
And He'll make you king

On a blanket made of woven shadows
Flew up to heaven
On a raven's glide
These angels have turned my wings to wax now
I fell like Judas from grace tonight

[Pre-Chorus]
On that day that he lied to me
Like Martin Luther
Like Pericles

[Chorus]
Come join the murder
Come fly with black
We'll give you freedom
From the human trap
Come join the murder
Soar on my wings
You'll touch the hand of God
And He'll make you king
And He'll make you king

I walk among the children of my fathers
The broken wings, betrayal's cost
They call to me but never touch my heart, no
I am too far
I'm too lost

[Pre-Chorus]
All I can hear is what he spoke to me
Like Martin Luther
Like Pericles

[Chorus]
Come join the murder
Come fly with black
We'll give you freedom
From the human trap
Come join the murder
Soar on my wings
You'll touch the hand of God
And He'll make you king
And He'll make you king

[Guitar Interlude]

So now I curse that raven's fire
You made me hate, you made me burn
He laughed aloud as he flew from Eden
You always knew, you never learn

[Pre-Chorus]
The crow no longer sings to me
Like Martin Luther
Or Pericles

[Chorus]
Come join the murder
Come fly with black
We'll give you freedom
From the human trap

Come join the murder
Soar on my wings
You'll touch the hand of God
And He'll make you king
And He'll make you king

Come join the murder
Come fly with black
We'll give you freedom
From the human trap
Come join the murder
Soar on my wings
You'll touch the hand of God
And He'll make you king
And He'll make you king

This song was written by Kurt Sutter, creator of Son's of Anarchy. It is referring to joining the murder of crows- SAMCRO that is "Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original". It is the offer of the outlaw biker life that will provide freedom from the normal human life. Jax, the main character in the show, suffered from this. He struggled with his soul being pulled two ways, between his family and sons and his motorcycle club. Throughout most of the show he believed he could steer the club in the right direction, as if the crow was speaking to him (his father). He then realized his life was too far gone, and it was up to him to make sure his sons avoid this life, hence the crow has stopped speaking to him. The life that the motorcycle club has provided has turned what could have been a good man into someone full of hate, it taught him hatred and murder and he did not want to pass this down to his sons.

The song is about the crow telling him to basically turn to the dark side of morality. Come fly with black, free of the human trap. At the end he realizes that he was tricked. He has been taught how to hate. And the crow no longer talks to him because he has his soul already, that his soul is lost, and he flies away laughing knowing the Jax's soul will burn in hell.

To me this song is a conversation between Jax and the fallen Sons. The verses are Jax's words while the chorus are the voices of Tara, Opie, Bobby, Half Sack, JT, and Otto telling him that everything is going to be okay and to just let go and join them. The human trap is Jax's earthly body, the crows tell him that if he joins them then they will free him from it and he can soar with them for all eternity. As the song progresses Jax realizes that he can no longer save himself but he can, in turn, save his sons by sacrificing himself. I also think the raven that is referenced throughout the sang is meant to be Gemma and Clay. They lied to him and led him astray for most of his life and when he finally stopped listening to them he realized that his life was screwed beyond repair. At the end when Jax puts his arms up and he becomes at peace with the monster he had become and let all of his problems go since he knew he set the club up on the straight and narrow and also lead his sons away from the outlaw life.

To me this song means the full circle of the show. From the 1st series to the last it depicts it magnificently in the 7 minute song.
I guess in the end, it shows how's lost he was and how wrong is never right and the realization he comes to through is children.
He went the same way as his father but saved his kids unlike his dad.
    RIP Sons of Anarchy.

The song speaks to the Original Nine who were the crows or "black." If youncount the number of crows flying in the closing scene, there were eight flying overhead and two on the ground,; near the sacrament of bread and wine. Some very deep symbolism existed throughout the series but the role of the homeless woman brought an angelic influence - almost that of a guardian angel for the Teller family. Jax was unconsciously aware of the connection in his charity towards the homeless woman's family. In the final scenes, Jax sees her near the courthouse steps with bread and wine - symbolic of the essentials of life and the messianic blessed sacrament. Jax knew his sacrifice was required or even that it was his calling or destiny; as he mounted JT's bike. He essentially carried his "cross" up the hill And sacrificed his life for his family, his club and to redeem his own soul. The symbolic wine-stained bread that lay on the highway marked the presence of his "divine" pre-ordained destiny and the symbolism was replaced by his own blood that flowed to the bread, after he lay down his life. There were two crows on the ground, making a total of ten - all nine originals and Jax. The song symbolizes mayhem - the ultimate sacrifice - which Jax gave so freely to save his sons, his club and his soul. He joined those who left before him to touch the hand of God and sit among the kings.

The first verse describes Jax's relationship with his father; in which it discusses how Jax feels that his father is watching him, seeing how far he has fallen into SAMCRO. This is not the life that JT wanted for Jax, and therefore Jax feels the burden of his sins.
The pre chorus is JT speaking to Jax from his journals, which help show Jax what SAMCRO could have been, in the hope that Jax can carry out his wishes and turn SAMCRO into a legitimate business.
This is followed by the chorus in which Jax hears all of his fallen friends, calling to him to join the "murder" of crows (the fallen members of SAMCRO). By joining them, he is escaping the life he once lived, as he had changed in to a violent criminal, and therefore sacrificed himself; knowing that his sons will not follow in his path.
The second verse deals with Jax battling between his devotion to his family and his love of SAMCRO, and therefore becoming increasingly unstable because of this. He no longer knows where he belongs.
The third verse discusses Jax's relationship with the members of SAMCRO, "the children of my fathers", with whom he has been through all of his struggles with. The still try to help Jax, but Jax knows that he has fallen too far, becoming something which he is not.
The final verse deals with Jax's relationship with Gemma and Clay; who both pulled Jax deeper into SAMCRO, ensuring that he did not become like his father.
The final pre chorus is Jax turning his back on SAMCRO, in order to go and join his fallen friends; whilst also ensuring that his "sons" both his biological sons, and the remaining members of SAMCRO do not follow in his path.

His father sons would be the SOA. The broken wings is the connection he has with the soa, that was broken as consequence of the actions of Clay and Gemma. His actions resulted in him becoming someone cold, away from life, in a way that his connection with the club couldn't be repaired and with that, his life couldn't be repaired. The murder of crows is SOA. The crow that speaks with him are Gemma and Clay, that brought him to the club every-time he tried to quit. The moment he begins to try to legalize things and step away from Redwood is the moment that the crow stops talking to him. Cursing the rage that the crow taught I thinks is more directed to killing his mom. He didn't want to do it in the end, but all is philology of life, taught by the club, is revenge.

The above thoughts are all valid & appropriate. I feel it could also embrace those who followed misguided ideals, bad ideas, evil in the guise of "good", bought a lie, participated in murder, evil, and ended up party to it all, left standing amidst the wasteland and destruction, ghosts, shattered dreams, .I.E. 3rd Reich. Take your pick. Great song. Haunting.

I think Jax weighed heavily on the mistake he had made by the the killings of the Chinese and that his own mother killed the one person he loved as much as his Sons and his SOA.
He saw the Angel of Death eating bread and the brief recognition between them he knew then what he had to do.
He saw the Light/Angel/God when he put his hands up as you see his face.
He surrendered himself to touch the hand of GOD. He understood that he could have freedom from his burden on earth and free his sons from the life he lead. He gave himself to the mercy of his deeds with the promise that he will once you touch the hand of GOD, he will make you King.

To me, this song doesn't have to be related directly to the show. The crow represents society, how people are always telling you to act and dress and do. When your young, you think you should follow the crowd. But as you grow older, you realize that other's opinions don't matter. And once people figure that out, they leave you. When the chorus is your conscious telling you you don't need them. You don't need to follow the rules. You need to be different. That's why I love this song so much. And when they say murder, Its talking about all the misfits of the world who have already figured out what life truly is. They are free from the chains of society. You know how crows are considered gross and ugly? Well, they are misunderstood, just like the people who don't "fit in".

I think the song is talking about dying and God sees my sins he sees my soul come touch gods hand he will make you king but he falls from grace like Judas, God knows his sins and I walk among my fathers children they. Call to me but never touch my heart I am to far gone meaning his heart cry's out to them longing to be with them but his past has caught up with him and he must pay for those sins in hell. Just my option.

The song is genius! It was the glue that put everything together in the series finale. SAMCRO is the crow offering freedom of the human trap through flight..above the law, above the common, like kings. And what once sounded so real and full of principal ince, does not sound that way anymore. His soul was lied to by the things that his heart was tought to believe. But I think the human sacrifice of himself for his sons and the good of SAMCRO gives Jax a bid to Heaven. That's how I see it.

It was written by The Forest Rangers. Not by Kurt Sutter. Kurt asked them to write it for the show, they did. Beautiful song that depicts the idea of the show Sons of Anarchy. It has meaning which may be different to each of us. To me it tells the journey of life and the possibilities of after-life.
