This song is quite a bit darker than it appears to be on the surface because it is paired with oddly uplifting music, but is actually about committing suicide.

He begins the song by singing about how he’s been depressed “flying with broken wings”, but has since pulled the proverbial trigger and is now “falling faster to the ground”.

He says that “It’s a bitter end to a story so sweet”, and that the memories of that relationship has “got [him] all locked up inside.” One can assume that he is singing about his (assumed) lover, and about how the memories of that relationship, in his final moments, is enough to “send [him] away with a smile on [his] face.”

He goes on, explaining that “if there was a way to get back that feeling of chase”, he would do it. But he can’t, so it is enough for him in “this moment”
