    Its about the guy saying to a girl he is confusing. Not knowing what direction in life. He wishes he could but just can't. He's saying he can't deserve a girl like her. Every time he screws up she is still there. Life is full of mistakes, some people will stand by you through them all and this is what the girl is doing. Who ever said love was simple and easy?

    Husband gave me this song after we had gotten into a small but awkward argument after his few too many drinks. The argument left us feeling so disconnected from each other, but the song made me feel a little better knowing he acknowledges his behavior/attitude. It was his way of telling me he loves me. This song describes us to the T...he’s difficult to love but I have never left his side in the 18 years we’ve been together. I love him because inspite it all, I see goodness in his heart.

    I think the meaning of hard to love is that there's one person in the relationship, either the guy or the girl & weather it's based on something that happened in the past or just personality they make themselves hard to love, makin crazy decisions and doesn't deserve it at all but then there's the other person and he/she is actually in love with them no matter hat they do they always stay by there side no matter how hard they are to love.

    Hard to love is when the other makes everything complicated. It's when you know you don't have complete trust, but you love them anyway. It's when you are just "friends", but really you're in love or more than friends. It's when the other makes things almost not worth dealing with, but you love them so you stay anyways and holding on even when you feel like nothing else could possibly go wrong. That's hard to love.

    It reminds me of my exboyfriend. He would always get mad at me for the dumbest things and end the relationship but yet I'd always put up with it and give him second chances and go back with him no matter what. And honestly if id do that hed hate me but I can't hate him. I've given him way more chances then he deserves and he doesn't deserve everything I put up with and give him. But I love him.

    At first I thought this was a song about a man and his relation ship with god but after looking at the lyrics I realize it means that he can be a real self absorbed jerk but he is really glad that his wife or girlfriend or whatever takes him for who he is and continues to love him even thought its hard. I still think it would make a great gospel song though just change "girl" out for "god"

    I just been through this for 7 months, my fiancé at that time, I've given him do many chances, he's tried to stop drinking to save our relationship, it didn't last but a week. He's back to drinking, he's told me, that no woman or anyone will tell him to not drink, I'm 32 years old grown man. As for the trust issues we have. Well, lets just say. Thank goodness we are over!

    O gosh! This is my man that I broke up with because he is so the first line. Pays more attention to what he wants. I believe that love should be about wanting to please someone else. Not about you. And he shows that every now and then but not enough. It still hurts to break it off but I deserve the respect and love that I know I deserve. So no longer "hard to love! " for me. Still love the song though. Life goes on!

    Being in relationships where you have been put down and tore apart not being able to be yourself and losing the definition of who you are giving everything you have to be with someone to discover they arent the one you have to rebuild yourself and your trust with new people. This makes you hard to love for them because of your past. But if they make it you know they are the one.
