    This is a song about a girl who has a heart that has dreamt of paradise; yet -for whatever unknowable reason- it's always out of reach, or she winds up receiving anything but "what dreams are made of. " still, somehow, someway, she realizes that the sun must set to rise -somehow, someway, no matter how much pain she has gone through, she finds a way to believe that "this could be para (beside, alongside of, by, beyond) - para - paradise (an intermediate place for the departed souls of the righteous awaiting resurrection; a state of supreme happiness; bliss). In other words, despite her repeated attempts to expect the world, she finds herself within a deeper hole -yet, she is smart enough to consider what comes with reaching rock bottom.

    Makes me think about a girl who was so innocent and fragile and naive. 'the wheel breaks the butterfly' makes me think of how her dreams just got crushed and loads of people took advantage of her. So she retreated into a fantasy world for comfort where everything was okay and how she'd first imagined things would be. And a things slowly got worse and worse for her, she retreated further and further into her head,.
    'every time she closed her eyes'.
    But she slowly comes to realise that the world isn't all bad and that maybe it could be a paradise 'this could be paradise' even if things aren't perfect. And she eventually comes to terms with the fact that although her life will never be what she dreamed of, it's better to live in the real world.

    The mainig of paradise to me by coldplay before I say furthermore. I think this songs matches my identity I've been searching the whole world to see if a song would talk to me and reach out to touch me. You guys did awsome I believe this song is about a girl who feels abandoned and mal treated by everyone. She cried a lot of times but whe she closed her eyes she saw a dofferent world above her. She knows their a place where she can be happy without any distrees if you guys ever think obut this song think about me I am nida applyrs a student from lauderdale lakes middle school. I'd never thiught I post something like this in my life. I wanted to be a muscican for a long but people thought of me as a good for nothing haitiangirl who doesn't have a life to live.     As a young girl you want worldly material things and are ruled by your ego, and what is "in vogue at the time. When you become disillusioned by the wanting and not getting, then you escape to a dreamlike reality of having it all. Then she reaches bottom, and realizes that paradise is not worldy goods, but comes from within. Happiness is an inside job. Getting in touch with your soul. At the end of the song she now says this could be paradise, instead of dreaming of paradise. Changing of perspective to what is really important in life.

    It means to me that a girl, dreaming better for herself, stuck where she is in her life, unhappy and sad. Wishing to escape from all troubles and tears and pain, and just up and fly away into paradise of her dreams. Because this song make me cry because life just isn't as meaningful as I want it to be and I don't see how I can make it better because I'm not famous, the only job I can get right now is serving people in food places and I'm broke.     I think this song is about a girl who grows up realizing how damaged and broken the world really is. Disappointment with life hoping it would give her all that world told fervor would give her, love, happiness, and acceptance. But instead of filling her life it's brought her nothing but pain and emptiness. This is the story of everyones life without jesus. Because the truth is you can never find true happiness and fulfillment without him. It may seems like it for a while but eventually it goes away and your are looking for something else to satisfy you sooner or later. The only way we can ever even dream about paradise in the first place is because jesus has placed that desire in our hearts. It makes so much sense.

    I think this song is about a child who used to have everything ('when she was just a girl, she expected the world'), but lost it all suddenly ('it flew away from her reach). Her life was hard ('bullets catch in her teeth. Every tear a waterfall'). And she escapes through her dreams of paradise whenever she feels sad or afraid. But she's optimistic ('i know the sun must set to rise') and believes that all her troubles will be resolved someday ('this could be para-para-paradise').

    It means that when she was young her life was easy, as she grew up, things startes to happen. She lost someone close to her, and she didn't think the world had much left for her, but when she thort about it, she realised that she would be breaking other peoples hearts if she goes, so she felt like the had realised that she could live on and be happy, evan though there are a lot of hard times.

    When I was young I always thought the world was perfect. But when I got to ages 11-12 or where I am now I now understand that it isn't it brought me great depression. Depression I've fought everyday. I love to imagine a world that it's perfect. My paradise containing no bullies or mean people. Right now I'm in my storm hoping everyday gets better. I've pretty much detached myself from this world. My best friends are my characters in my stories, Pens, Pencils, Notebooks.

    I think it's about a girl who thought that the world should be brought to her, and she grew up not facing reality. Then something happened, and the thin wall between reality and dreamland was shattered, and she realized that the world wasn't all that she thought it should be. She was facing reality now, realizing the world can't be given to her, and she has to work for everything. Then, somehow, she realized that if she wants the good parts of life, she has to get through the bad. That's why it says, "the sun was set to rise" When you face pain, you have to realize that pain that you face. It's only helping you to get through the wheel of life, which is why in the song, it references "a wheel". The wheel breaks the butterfly must mean that the butterfly is like, love and hope and all things good and beautiful in life, and then the wheel is the wheel of life, and life is always destroying things good and beautiful, but will always replace it with more beautiful and hopeful things in life. Life isn't always showering you with gifts. There are bad things in it too, and the girl in the song suddenly woke up to that, and so she started realizing that the world wasn't all that she thought it was.

    Two girls with the same circumstance, one finds peace in her sleep while the other chooses a life of danger and risk. It's interesting how we deal with the cards we are delt, while someone with the same upbringing may not come out alive and sane, others will have whatever takes to make it out alive and have the advantage that experience grants you. It's not about survival of the fittest, it's about resilience. Where one falls another will rise.

    To me this song is about when we are children we think we can be anything we want and almost expect to have this story book life with a happy ending. But as life goes on we realize how hard life is and its not all good. But once you realize/accept that the hard times are just as much a part of life/necessary as the good times ("the sun must set to rise") you realize that " this could be para-para-paradise " as oft life is what you make it.
    Just my take. Either way glad to see other enjoy this song as much as me.

    Najbolje da ovo napisem na jeziku na kojem ce me shvatiti moji zemljaci, pjesma je odlicna I govori po mom misljenju o tome da zivot je lijep, samo ako smo mi spremni da ga uljepsamo.
    Kad si mlad sve ti se cini tako daleko I nemoguce ali dio po dio ukoliko si uporan ti ces ostvariti I onda ce sve biti uredu.

    Many people are stuck in a situation in life and they can't get out (like the elephant in the video who was ripped out of it's home in africa and stuck in a zoo).
    Because of this it's not living it's life anymore. It's trapped. A little piece of the love for life she has in her heart dies inside each day.
    The only way to escape and live her life again is only in her dreams.

    It's (in my opinion) about a young girl who, when put into the real world, found out it was nothing she expected. *When she was just a girl she expected the world but it flew away in her reach* and when she was running away in her sleeep means that was just it.     Wow. This song is beautiful!
    First time I heard it I thought: that's me.
    It's about a little girl who expects so much from life but she's let down. She instead, dreams about paradise, the world she wants to live in every time she gets the chance. As life goes on it gets harder and as it goes it breaks her. She still dreams about paradise and wishes it would get better. She has a realization that it has to get worse before it gets better and looks forward to a better day.
    As soon as I heard this song I wanted to learn it on piano (i play). I finally got my chance to play it in front of my school and it went well. I stuffed up the start but I rocked the rest. Even though I had played better in previous performances this was my best because I meant every note I played. That's what makes this song so great, it's so relatable.

    I think that the only real paradise in this world is heaven, but if were talking about our own paradise, it's just a beautiful and perfect place with absolutely no flaws and every thing is right, everyone gets along, and there is now arguments or wars over, food, land, or rights. Everyone is treated equal, everyone loves each other, there are no murder or suicides, no bullying, no, stealing, cheating, or lying. Everything is peaceful. That's what paradise means to me.

    No no. Don't you people see the point in this song. It's about a girl who expected to get what this world was meant too give. But she never got what she truly wanted from this world. But when she would dream she would feel everything that this world was supposed too offer. Happiness.     You know I was also planning on singing this for my school talent show. I am a writer and I am very good at what I do, even though I am only eleven. This song to me sounds like a poem. I know all songs are poems, but this one is one that is not about relationships or other people, but it focuses on one person. It talks about a young girl probably under 18 and she "expects the world" to listen to her and tell her she is perfect. But when this doesn't happen she becomes discouraged and when she lays her head down to sleep, she finds she wakes up to a perfect dream, or "paradise". She understands now at the end of the song, that her perfect world is not how the world is or has been or ever will be. She knows that "the sun must set to rise" because like a previous comment said you must work your way up to where you want to go and that there must be struggle before strive.

    When your life is not turning out well because of problems (in my case, someone mentally ill I love and care for) sometimes sleep and dreamlife is the only way to cope. I am very happy in my dreams in a way I can't find in waking life and that happiness gets me through the hard days.     "she" is mother earth. When she was young, her beauty was taken for granted. But as human culture progressed, through ravages of war, industrialization and resource depletion; the hope that all that earth ever was - will likely never again be, for her grace was taken by thieves in the night. Now, all she can do is use her remaining resources to signal for help. This "dream-signal" is actually very real, and she is still strong enough to send messages to other dreamers, who might awaken to a new age dawning. Her dreams will become a battle cry to a new humanity, who will remember her cries as they come to their senses, and realize that earth is the only tangible reality we really have. The new age will return everything to her, choose to guard, protect and serve her. No one really knows. This truly may be the only paradise in our universe, so, it's worth a try to be the hero generation who can bring it all back to the start. Only this time, we'll be fully aware of how close to the edge we were. And never return to this fearful place again.

    A woman who struggled with life since a child and always felt the weight of the world and lost direction. But would always dream of a better life and a perfect place - 'paradise'. Later on she realises, still in stormy skies (difficult times), that there is hope and life can get better (the sun must set to rise). That it can be paradise now. - that she has a choice, a choice to choose paradise right in the middle of her struggles and the ability to rise above them, even more so with a little help from above.

    When we're young we view the world as ours but as we grow the truth becomes clear and we realize the world was never ours but instead we are the worlds.     When you hear a song like this, I don't know how to explain it. It makes you feel, alive! You wanna scream, laugh, cry, fly! Its those kinda song you need to go on in life, find something to cheer you up, make you feel better. Everything in there is just right, the melody, the sounds, the words, the voice. Sometimes it doesn't makes sense, but it doesn't need to. Because sometimes life doesn't make sense at all. I say bravo to coldplay, for creating a song like that.     When u're little you have a lot of expectations, how ur life's gonna be. What you want to achive and stuff.
    When you grow up you realize that most of those things are not gonna happen, cuz life's not that easy. So you start pitying urself about ur life and how hard it is and how all those dreams you had didn't became reality.

    It's about having hope. The world we live in is far from perfect or eternal. There is a lot of pain, suffering, and disappointment. This song is about a place somewhere else that is good, perfect, comfortable, and everything else that makes us feel welcome, happy, and at peace. I like to think it's about heaven.     A week ago I held my sister sharon in my arms - she was on her deathbed with pancreatic cancer and her journey was coming to an end - she asked me to turn on the radio and "paradise" started to play - I encouraged her to listen to the words - we knew there is a better place out there to look forward to - darling shaz, you are that girl, who expected the world, but it flew away from her reach, so you ran away in your sleep!     When she grows older she finds true love and men who love her but it's never enough. The stormy nights in which "she closed her eyes" are her break ups.

    I met my husband in high school, when I use to have all these dreams of a life of success, and blissful love. We both took separate paths, and life took over. We both experienced great things, disappointments and lost dreams. Thirty years later, we found each other again and discover there could be a paradise. Paradise may not be perfection but it rather means recognizing what's perfect for you. (this could be paradise.)

    It's yet another song about monarch mind control programming, which is prevelant in the entertainment industry. It is derived from the cia's mk-ultra mind control program, where they use trauma and drugs to cause people's minds to fragment and dissociate as they go to their happy place to escape some form of trauma (violence, rape, etc.) that they were exposed to. Google monarch mind control programming and learn about its symbolism. The song is about an innocent girl who tried to escape in her dreams (from the trauma) and dream of paradise (her happy place) while catching bullets in her teeth (trauma inflicted on her by her handler). Notice the mention of butterfly (monarch butterfly symbolism). The sun must set to rise (she must endure trauma in order to become the person her handler brainwashed her into becoming). An empty promise, but it could be paradise (yeah right).

    everyone is loved, when you feel down another good song to listen to is "dont give up" by josh groban. I use to be depressed and suicidal but now I think about how I can use these feelings to help others who are down. When I listen to this song I can just taste the hope and beauty. I feel just like that elephant and I know one day we will all be the elephant who finally finds his/her elephant friends.
    We can only grow stronger from our experiences and we can be whatever and whoever we want to be =) paradise is a state of mind.

    The song is about hope. When the girl (who can be anyone and everyone) was young, the reality of the world did not meet her expectations, so she escaped into fantasy, flying away from turmoil both real and imagined. As she grows up, she realizes that there may yet be something to look forward to, that in order to rise, the sun must first set. Another cliche for that is, "it's always darkest before the dawn. " something on the horizon that she has not come across may yet be the "paradise" she seeks. By saying "this could be paradise" at the end, the "this" refers to this reality, this world, not the fantasy she escaped to when she was younger. This is, then, the hope the song provides.

    When she was a little girl she wanted everything to go the way she wanted (sounds like my sister!). But when she didn't get everything she dreamed of, she dreamed of a better world where she could get everything. When she got older, though, she realized how tough it can be to be a human of the 21st century. I mean, hearing about all those wars and school shootings and stuff. It can change a person! So she dreamed of a better world where there wouldn't be war and destruction and killing and all that. But later in life she notices that "the sun must set to rise," or that this "destruction is cool" generation has to be done thinking that destruction is cool before they stop. Great song, and good meaning!

    To me, it is saying that this girl had so much she wanted out of life and things didn't turn out the way she expected. Probably she was madly in love with someone who did not returned her love and all the dreams she had of marrying, loving and having a family was just shattered by heartbreak and the only place she found refuge for her heart was in her sleep or just closing her eyes and imagining paradise, where she is happy and will not experience heart-ache and pain. Stormy nights make her remember her pain, hence she closes her eyes and goes to her "happy place". She moves on with her life, but it is not the same, it is hard after you madly love someone and know that person does not love you the way you want. She cries every tear a waterfall cuz she knows she has to move forward and no matter how much she loves this person, she knows she has to let go. Knowing all that hurts and that's why she closes her eyes and goes to paradise.

    A girl was lead to believe she could expect the world, she watched as the world grew distant from her reach. She would dream of a paradise and awake to follow her dreams. She feels the pain of the process, life keeps turning, and one too delicate is broken by the cycle. When she cried, it felt endless, and in the personal comfort of a stormy night, she would close her eyes once more, and fly in search of what once escaped her reach.     This girl relives part of a "stormy night", a painful past in her life. She escapes this in her dreams of paradise knowing the sun will rise because her present life is better now. She fought through that past "night" and remembers how it is still part of who she is today yet she wont let it define her. The truth is that "stormy night" still haunts her and she can never escape those horrible memories. But its long over and she's learned how to find true paradise within herself. Tlm.

    Everyone has big dreams as a child. Little girls want to be princesses, little boys want to be cowboys. But those hopes are eventually always torn from us. Whether its by simply realizing that you have to be a certain bloodline to be royalty, or by a tragedy that makes you realize this world isn't as happy of a place as it should be. Though we can't be entirely sure how, this girl has realized that she can't become what she wants in this world. Paradise doesn't exist here. We can only get close to it when we escape to dreamland.

    To me when is was young I use to get abused and at night I dreamt of being born to a wonderful family, prince charming taking me away to a better place than where I was. I would wake up and be back I felt in a hell hole. I would daydream all day of living a better place. Even as an adult realizing prince charaming isn't real and the vail of the whole world lifted. I was opened to things a child shouldn't know at age 5 but still naive to things. I still daydream. Its better I wish I could do more of awaking dream where they would blend and it would be a wonderful world without the problems of today. "paradise"

    When you are young, you expect all your dreams to come easy, come fast, but life has let you down, and it gets cluttered and all caught up. So many people expect you to do everything perfectly, and you just. Can't. You get to the point where you don't care how you go through the days.
    "the wheel breaks the butterfly" in my opinion means the wheel of the grown-up working world, real life, crushing the spirit of a young, spirited girl who feels the world is hers.
    "i know the sun must set to rise" refers to her 'life gets worse before it gets better' outlook on her world.
    At least that's what I think. I feel this way right now, and that's why I love this song.

    To me phrases such as "the wheel breaks the butterfly" and "and the bullets catch in her teeth" sounds like an acknowledgement of environmental damage and social injustice caused by human development, and how that damage is like a "stormy night", causing suffering to the girl who expected to live in the peace and beauty of "paradise", but she can only go there when she closes her eyes. But there is also an element of hope for the girl, as she realises that "the sun must set to rise", so "paradise" could still be possible but it would be hard to get there. In the music video, the use of the elephant escaping from the confines of the zoo back to its' natural habitat, lends to the a meaning similar to a return to nature, or a "return to paradise".

" this song captures the disappointment we all have when we realizet the world is not what we expected, but in the end, the world is all we have an it is beautiful.     A girl who thought she could grow up to do anything, be anything. Then life got unexpectedly difficult and she escaped her reality in her dreams only to awake to one problem after another. She would say "i know the sun must set to rise" b/c she was an eternal optimist, continuing to believe the bad place she was in would give way to a sunny day. The success and happiness she dreamed of as a child. "this could be" is her ongoing hope for an opportunity that will change her course. I agree with others that it's ultimately sad b/c in the song she hopes for, but never seems to find her paradise.

    I think this song is about someone (no everyone) and how as a young child we all dream of everything we could ever want or need. But as we get old the world no longer has the rose glass tint and the only way we find said paradise once again is though our sleep/dreams. But after a while we wake to find paradise is once again right in front of use (through the form of young once and the rose glass smile/out look on life they all ways have).

    When she was young, naive and innocent she had such high expectations for herself in the world, it would mean something, she would be someone and make a difference. But as she got older she realized the world is not the beautiful magical place she once thought it was and upon this harsh awakening she crumpled in disappointment, in both herself and the world she had hoped for, so now she escapes from reality by dreaming of the paradise she had always imagined could be real. At the end of the song she has become older and wiser, now knowing that the "sun must set to rise", but she's realized this too late because her own sun is now setting.

    Because life is hard, the girl finds paradise in her dreams. Everytime she faces an obstacle, her escape is this "paradise" that she imagines. But as she faces the downsides of real life, she realizes that in this world, even though the sun sets, "the sun must set to rise", noting that although there are bad sides to this world, there are good things too; thus, she finds that this "could be paradise".     She would have had a very happy n cherishing memories of childhood. With her family or with her loved ones. But she no more has that warmth left with her in reality. She finds it in her imaginary world- the paradise. There she remembers all the happy times n smiles, she seeks for that so lost warmth.     This girl must have had a big dream when she was little, but in order to pursue her goal in life, she has to chase and travel at the speed of the changing world.
    She managed to keep up with the world, but the faster it go, the further it takes her away from her dream world.
    She took another road, an easier one to pursue her dream. However, the world was not the same world she remembers as a child. Although she successfully overcome all the boulders and traps in the mid of her journey, she'd still dream of that one paradise that once existed in her youth a long time ago.     Conceived pure. Carried in a mothers whom and already confronted with life. Then born still innocent we hope and dream as we grow up and "expect the world" then as time goes on we discover that life is disappointing in so many ways and we begin to realize that reality is not paradise but we can escape to it from time to time. The little girl is an example of how she escapes the harshness of life. She begins to realize that the sun must set to rise again. No ups without downs. No joy without sorrow. No high without low. While each of us deals with different challenges and disappointments we find our own ways to escape to paradise. For me I am lucky and blessed and my life is overall pretty good but I look so forward to the real paradise that is to come when I pass away from this life. Where the sun always rises and the butterfly never breaks a wing and there are no bullets to catch. No lows. No sorrow. No downs paradise with jesus.

    I would interpret the song as being about a girl who's only escape from the harsh "wheel" of life is in her dreams-probably of which is the only place purely dicatated by herself.     This song speaks about all humans (including grown-ups who have a child within them) who have not come to realize who they are.
    Paradise is not a place to which you are "going" to but it is the realization of what you really are regardless of wherever you are.
    Children are born with a huge amount of love within them so they naturally expect the world to be just as loving, but when they mature and realize that somethig very cancerous has taken place (and since they have not realized what they are yet) they try to "dream" what the world "should" look like, trying to escape reality.

    Omg! This makes me cry in a good way cos it's amotional. Has anyone seen the video clip? Yeah it's cute! For those who haven't seen it i'll tell you. It's a bout a elephant who trying to find a place to call home so he looks everywhere. At the end he finds a clearing where there's like 3 other elephants and they are a band and so the elephant that was trying to find a place to stay runs up to an instrument and joins in and now you know y it's called paradise.     Heard a snippet from the lead singer on the radio. They only used the elephant suit and the tricycle because it's all they had with them at the time. They realized they didn't have a video for the release of their album so they just threw something together. So forget the elephant. It's errelephant.

    I think this song is about a girl who was full of life until she was hurt by people; the only way she could survive was to run away in her sleep and dream of paradise. Even though her life gets heavy and hurts sometimes and at times she has given up because her tears are like a waterfall, to fly away would be her dreams come true.     I think its about a girl who expected everything happens the way you want it to, and when she found out this wasn't true, she'd find safety in dreaming of her own paradise. The stormy nights that she closes her eyes to are the rough patches in her life that she tries to hide from or to look away from.     It's regarding the naivety of a girl who grows up to realize the world (everything she ever wanted or envisioned) doesn't add up the "paradise" she envisioned herself in. Yet, despite constant struggle she's still carrying the hope the she will reach her paradise one day. Bullets being "caught" in her teeth means that shes not broken and simply dealing with the struggles the come her way (in which "bullets" means its an extremely hard hit or struggle). The butterfly references the old idea that even the slightest change, even a simple death of a butterfly, can cause a giant impact on one's future (also the butterfly representing her innocent wonder and the wheel indicating an outside, man made influence. Essentially, some societal construct ran over her beautiful conceptualization of the world). The teardrop also references this, that on the outside it may seem small from another perspective, but to her it has much more significance.
    In the end she accepts that to see a happy ending, she must go through the pain and realizes she could make it a paradise.

    As kids, we have big dreams and aspirations for ourselves, and for the world we live in. But as we gradually grow up, dreams get dashed and hopes are crushed. The morbid reality often becomes too much to handle, and sometimes we just want to run away; away from the real world and into the realms of our imagination.     Makes me think about a girl who grows up poor, knowing she'll never have the opportunities of others. Then she gets mixed up in prostitution or something similar and it crushes her fragile hopes for a better future. And she feels the only way to make things better is to take drugs. Because life is like a little bit of the paradise she hoped for on them. And slowly things get more and more bad and she takes more and more drugs and then one day she realises what her life has become and how alienated she is from the real world. The way the song sounds the same at the start and finish is her reflecting in the girl she once was.

    Paradise is a beautiful song. But not any ordinary song. It means that there's a little girl who expect the world to be everything good and all but when she grew up she realized life is not perfect and all she dreamed of was being in that perfect place aka paradise.     This is the most beautiful song. I have this type of feeling whenever I hear it. It's a mixture of sad, depressing, honestly, and unique. The way the melody makes me feel so touched, it's just unexplainable. It kinda reminds me of an old movie of how a boy became an elephant's friend. The boy died at the end, and he became an elephant named after his first little elephant, who had been sent away from him. I just can't get tired of it. Seriously. This is how I feel about the song.

    A woman who expected much more from her life as a child now realizes life is much colder and harder than expected and the only escape she gets from her rough life is when she closes her eyes and goes to sleep and dreams of a better life but never looses hope that it will get better that everyone suffers set backs but its how you recover from it and to never give up on your dreams in the lyric "i know the sun must set to rise" sometimes you must fall back in order to go forward in life also the sun goes down but also gets back up never giving up ps.     When she was a girl she dreamed of living a perfect life, it didn't go the way she planned, and she escaped in her dreams. She is older now and life is hard, so while her life seems like a mess, she imagines herself living the life she wanted.     To me, it is saying that this girl had so much she wanted out of life and things didn't turn out the way she expected. Probably she was madly in love with someone who did not returned her love and all the dreams she had of marrying, loving and having a family was just shattered by heartbreak and the only place she found refuge for her heart was in her sleep or just closing her eyes and imagining paradise, where she is happy and will not experience heart-ache and pain. Stormy nights make her remember her pain, hence she closes her eyes and goes to her "happy place".     The circle of life is hard. We all wish for paradise. The line: the wheel breaks the butterfly is very powerful.
    The butterfly is transformation of one's self, the proverbial butterfly from awakening to the higher awareness of life's meaning and soul development, the wheel is the wheel of life and it can and does break the transformation from chrysalis to butterfly.     I thought this was a happy song just by the tune and the chorus but when I actually listened to the lyrics it is a song of hardship and possible suicide and just how hard life is. I have a happy place that I escape to when things are too hard I read or listen to music so I guess other people do too still love it but is a lot heavier than I thought.

    Every young girl sees the world as an open beautiful place full of possibilities and adventures, but as they grow they see the unfortunate truth that is. The obstacles of life seem to be too much and too scary to face, so why not escape the ugliness of the world and go to land of beauty and love and infinite joy. Her paradise.     I thinkthe girl in these lyrics who feels like she means nothing to everyone, that lifes thrown some tough things at her and she. Couldn't cope. I think that the one place she feels she can get away from this is when she's dreaming about her paradise when she's going through a rough patch. Halfway through the song the girl sees the light at the end of the tunnel and finds her paradise (every video relates to the lyrics, this video has a trapped elephant who breaks free, runs away from home an finds his paradise after over oming the obstacles of things like money) - I'm only 14.     Paradise is some thing we spend our live looking for. Searching for that some one to brush our tears away, that place where the sun always shines and the and after every shower there is a rainbow. Though we very rarely stop to see the majesty in our own live. Like the first breath of a newborn child or that last bird that finishes its song a sunset or the stars that shine so brightly down on all creation on those warm summer nights. In my opinion paradise is everywhere you just have to open your eyes to see it.

    Though it really speaks differently to each of us, my take to this song is simple. While young, something inside of us allows us to soar and dream big, hope for the best, and really have great visions of the future. But as we grow up, we tend to realize that to get what we hope for from dream to reality, it's harder than we anticipated. Broken hearts, tired souls, we sometimes lose hope. But as we close our eyes and remember once again what we want to become, what we hope to achieve, and what we desire to get out of our one life, we find the courage to go on and see our dreams, after all the tears and pain, finally come true.
    Or this song could simply be about elephants forming a band. : p haha!

    I think it is about a girl who finds out that the world is not what it seems, so she tries to deal (dreams about paradise).
    And then she tells herself that the negativity is temporary, ("the sun must set to rise" almost like "there can't be a rainbow without rain", you're gonna have to 'fight' the negativity).
    Then she tells herself she has to make the world positive, not wait around for it to do it itself. ("this could be paradise")

    I think this song talks much about a girl who dreamed high, but somehow she missed the chances (might be because of her immature thought, idk.). Thus right now, she tried to imagine the paradise she couldn't achieve. For me, chance will always come to our life, because god always loves us.     It reminds me of when I was a little girl and I would expect a better life, but nothing ever changed, so I'd dream was in an imaginary place called crystal falls. Eventully when I had just turned 14 I was already trying to od and drink everything way, but then somebody taught me I was better than that. That I had a meaning the them, and if I didn't have anyone else I still had them. Until this day I've been sober. I never want to go back to that place ever again.

    First verse: when she was little, people told her the world was hers, but she couldn't have everything she desired, so she could only dream.
    Second verse: she is met again with the reality that she can't have everything she wants, and that reality hits her like bullets in her teeth, an excruciating metaphor. Perhaps she wanted specific things that were unnatainable.
    "the wheel breaks the butterfly": (in one sense; perhaps the songwriter's perspective) true progress means the giving up of one's dreams to live in what must happen.
    "every tear a waterfall": (because of giving up her dreams) the pain strikes very deep.
    But even in the "stormy nights," she'll close her eyes, and dream once again of the paradise she wanted since she was a child. This song is so sad :(
    "i know the sun must set to rise": (remember this is all simply rough interpretation :)) how can I say this?. It sounds like the lyrics speak to the inevitability of the next day coming; because of today happened, tomorrow must come as well, which brings a new day of hope that her dreams will come true.

    In the video it has a circus. I think that the person fled to the circus expecting life to be like a 'paradise' there, then finiding out that it wasn't. So they ran away from there, and at the end meets up with all their other friends from the circus that also ran away. I absolutely love this song, it is definately, no doubt, the best song coldplay have ever released along with charlie brown.

    You are so innocent when you are a child and have great expectations. As you grow up you come to accept that in reality you will not achieve paradise, which has run away from your grasp. However the song suggests that if you close your eyes and dream you will find that your 'paradise' has not really left you but that it is always inside you, no matter how bad your real life is like. She dreams as long as she can but she knows that she must awaken from her dreams each day. This is a beautiful song.

    When your younger you think that it will be sooo easy to achieve the goal ahead of you but different perspectives on age like a kid from the age of 4 to 6 think that someone's always going to have your back when your 7-11 you become a little more frustrated and a bit independent and when your 12 to 18 you just wish sometimes you can be all on your own or ur parents agreeing with you. When your 20 you think back to when you were 5 when you were care-free and had no stress.

    I believe paradise is about the individual or mind set of someone who regardless of life matters, takes the wheel to life. Unlike most individuals they take what they feel was given to them as a temporary release or an escape to the strange world we live in, and they chose to live it and not look back.     No this song is about a girl trapped in a world she never intended on living in. She is stuck there so every night the only way she can get away is to dream of the life she wants but knows she may never have "paradise" has nothing to do with white beaches and oceans although the vastness of an ocean symbolizes the hugeness of her dreams. She is the butterfly in the song and the wheel is the harshness of life.

    I relate the song paradise to a story of my own. My mom had cancer for 16 years and a little over a month ago came to the realization that she was ready to leave. She was in so much pain and she knew her time to go had finally come. She truely dreamed of being pain free in her own little paradise and that is where she is. Yeah, life does go on and it hurts. Things are so much darker without her but I know now that when she slipped away to her paradise she was finally content and carefree like when she was young.

    When young, she dreamed of paradise and at the end of the song she said it 'this could be' paradise, so I am guessing she got it. Having been through a turmuluous childhood, dreaming and praying of paradise myself, I have finally found peace from years of mental health issues, having never given up, nomatter how much I wanted to, and so this song is very special to me - I believe she finds paradise, and although I am not quite there yet, I am on my way too!     A sad girl that no one will listen to and she feels traped.
    This is a girl who thought or believed that the world was a perfect place to live in. But when she discovered that the real world is far from perfect she conforts herself by excaping into her own perfect world.

    Paradise is about being stuck in life in that one place where you just want to get away to your own paradise. You may have to work hard to paradise, but when you do, all the sweat, blood, and tears is worth it!
    In the video, they used a little girl elephant being in a cage at zoo, then finding her own way back to her paradise, which was her home, where all her friends are!

    I have a daughter who is 20 years old, has cerebral palsy, and is a quadraplegic. She is also mentally challenged, but is just enough aware to know what her world could be, but never will be. When I first heard this song, I thought of her. She can only dream of having the normal life that we take for granted, so she invents friends and imagines all the fun things they do. Then she cries when she "wakes back up. " every tear is a waterfall.

    I think its about a girl who expected everything happens the way you want it to, and when she found out this wasn't true, she'd find safety in dreaming of her own paradise. The stormy nights that she closes her eyes to are the rough patches in her life that she tries to hide from or to look away from. However in the end she is bravely exposing herself to the storms "and so lying underneath those stormy skies" and finally understands that for things to get better sometimes they have to get worse, and in knowing this she considers that her life could in fact be paradise "she'd say, 'oh, oh.. I know the sun must set to rise' this could be para-para-paradise" - this is somethin someone earlier said. This is genuis! Good job! I completely agree!

    I think it's about a girl who thinks the world will be a paradise when she grows up and she dreams of her wonderful life later on. Then life breaks her down when she realizes that it's not easy and not the paradise she was expecting, so she gives up for a while and the only thing that keeps her going is her dream of paradise. Eventually she comes to the realization that bad things have to happen in order for good things to also happen. She realizes that she can make her own paradise and that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

    Paradise is the story of a life. A girl was brought up to believe the world was a good place with good people. When she grew up she realized this couldn't be true and she dreamed of when everything was innocent. She went on, still dreaming, and met a guy. Suddenly, the innocence was back. Time must have gone on and he dumped her. Disappointed again, she turned to drugs for her "paradise". In one of her "lows" she realized the only world that exists is her perception of it, and it could be paradise again.

    I think it means that no matter what you do to achieve in your life, it's only by using the hard ways that will free you from any problem around you becaus you know you've had worked and made alot of sacrifices to prove yourself useful and that you trulely have a reason to live. I also think it's the course of a child in maturity when the kid relizes all the difficulties in life, but I always feel touched when I listen to this song.

    This song is telling me that I don't need "something better" or "someone better" god is with me. I am at peace with myself. Times are hard but I will be strong. I will never give up. I am happy and satisified. I have dreams but it takes time. Like the quote I read in " a thousand years " patience is the key to everything. I am in paradise.
