blink-182 – Adam's Song lyrics
I never thought I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest who'd have known
I traced the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all

I took my time, I hurried up
The choice was mine, I didn't think enough

I'm too depressed, to go on
You'll be sorry when I'm gone

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive

We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to all my friends
You'll never step foot in my room again
You'll close it off, board it up
Remember the time that I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mom this is not her fault

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over but we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

I never conquered, rarely came
Tomorrow holds such better days
Days when I could still feel alive
When I can't wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over I survived
And I can't wait till I get home
To pass the time in my room alone

This song is very sad. I think it is in reflection to teenage suicide. This kid, 16 years old, just wants to stand out and be noticed. Nobody seems to care and he is wishing for his moment. He sits in his room depressed and hoping that someone out there cares. But, no one does. All that people remember him for is the stupid mistakes he has made. So as a result of feeling unloved and unnoticed by his peers, he commits suicide. And, in the suicide letter he tells what should be done with his stuff and to stress to his mother that its wasn't her fault, but his for not being able to cope. So sitting alone in his room is when he commits suicide.

It kind of seems like it is about this kid who is like really depressed on life or miss treated or something and he is talking about weather he should run away or kill himself of something like that. And he thinks about all of the good memories and times and how people would miss him and not even want to talk about him. Then he decides to not do it and just wait out the time in his room alone I think that's whats means of something similar of that.

Ok first of all he doesn't die in his room, in fact he never even goes in his room. Its like a place in his mind that he can relate back to. Next, he does commit suicide because he talks about the letter that he left, and he wants to make sure his mom knows that it is not her fault at all. Noone ever saw who he really was other than the kid in the corner, and he really wanted to get out there and meet people but no one cared at all. He felt that there were so many better days reffering to when he wasnt as depressed and I also love how this song relates to kirt cobain: D. If you don't believe me compare the part I took my time I hurried up, the choice was mine I didn't think enough to come as you are lyrics. This is probably the most well written blink song there is, and even if oyu don't like it you sohld still resect it. I love it though. Please comment to blink kid and tell me what you think.

I love this song. It's one of those "teen anthems" in my opinion. :)
Meaning is probably something along the lines of this guy always hiding his feelings from his friends and joking along. He was alway positive on the outside but he was depressed on the inside. As he grew up, the fun ended and he realized that he felt his life was wasted and way too easy. Eventually, he decides to kill himself, but doesn't go through with it. Then he's back to positive and hoping that the next days will be better because his hard times are over.

I think that he is writing this letter to his dad explaining why he is commuting suicide, partially blaming him because he was the one to enlist him in the army because the singer was forced to when he was 16. Now he is either coming back from war or is already at home and has decided to take his life. But as he is writing this letter(in the last paragraph) he realizes how much he has to offer in his life and why he is here.

This is a pretty awesome song, I'd have to say. I think in the first verse when it says "I took my time, I hurried up, the choice was mine..." was a response to a Nirvana song, Come as You Are in which it says, "Take your time, hurry up, the choice is yours...". So in a way it was blink-182 tipping their hats to Nirvana and continuing his legacy. In a way this song is about what happened when Kurt Cobain died (Suicide or Murdered) and the response to it, the feelings it evoked.
