I cried when I first heard this song. The ones we love the most have the greatest power to destroy, including themselves. Unhealthy choices create broken hearts. But broken hearts can be restored which is evident of even a greater love. Love through a youth’ s eyes can be distorted by believing love is all about a feeling. Loving requires a choice, a commitment and admittedly, hard work. This song could be so different if this younger one could have witnessed her parents overcoming their brokenness. Love is a powerful emotion and I think the greater message in this song is to realize that love is not just a feeling but a choice. And it must be handled with great care.
