I think this song is about how social rejection can feel like a monster is eating up your insides and how the dark it can get when you don't seek help. Let's be honest all of us who sought out this song have felt how they describe it feeling.
Not because we have been socially rejected but because we have unique weights weighing us down. This song probably that we each have our own monster that drags us down.
