I think this song is about letting your mind drift. When he moves to Tokyo (in the song), he is letting his ideas and his mind shift to a completely different world that renews his old ideas, but also creates new ones. During the rest of the first part of the song, he's describing his exploration of this idea he's created, and how people don't really see him anymore. In the second part, the idea world is getting old, and he starts to grow tired. He decides to come back down to earth, and starts to feel comfortable with the world around him. At the end, beginning with "content like a panda bear", he describes happiness in the real world, but still goes back to his ideal world to pull out expressions of his emotions as he "puts on a diving tank and sing when i inhale".
Or, at least that's how I interpret.
