honestly to me i have 2 explanations! neither makes sense but i just like rambling abt this kinda shit lol. this seems like a song about a business man who runs a large business that they can't get rid of. or the creator of something that's been used to torment them. (i know this isn't a good example because it's not nearly as serious as this song, but my only comparison would be the creator of the pop-up ad ending up hating his creation, but of course, he can't remove it because the entire internet has it now.) the LOVE is quiet because they can't focus on the actual people trying to help them perhaps, or that's before they made this colossal fuck-up. they're trying to explain why they 'Love!', but they get cut off by their business, prices, money problems, fear.
when writing this i actually started to have another theory about this which makes a lot more sense!! and is.. kinda relatable tbh. i think this is about a person trying to provide for their family, but they can't afford anything anymore. the 4.99 item (seen as cheap to most people) is LUXURY to the person singing. in the actual music video, the LOVE heart is replaced with money, making me feel like the main protag's s/o is getting incredibly defensive over money. and when hthe main character tries to call for help in the mv, the love isn't in the background anymore and is much louder, and 'touch' was added. their s/o is trying to manipulate them into buying a ridiculous amount of unnecessary things. then the character begins to buy things to help them ignore them, such as tooth hammers, which might be a way of self harm (not that hard to believe considering in one shot you can see on one of the ads "plus s+h"), pills and.. even the emergency calls cost 4.99. asking for help is a cost to him, or at least he believes so because of his financial problems,,, in the end, all his calls for help are put off as 'spam.' and redirected to an automatic number
tldr: i ramble a lot
