Demi lovato wrote this song about her father, he was an alcholic who abused her, her sister and her mother then left home when she was 5, she wrote this song as a way of dealing with her feelings of the situation. She originally wanted to put this song on her album "here we go again" however because she was with disney at the time they thought the younger audience she had would not be able to understand the meaning of the song. Now that she has left disney she felt it was time to put this song on her album "unbroken" as it is a true reflection of all the things she has been through and like she said in an interview it is almost like a diary.
