I believe the song was written about a friend they had recently lost, I read that the cover Tigers Jaw did was because both bands were friends with said person. The place 'Kingston' was where the band is from, so I suppose its a symbolic place for them and this person. Such a powerful song, wish there was more analysis about it online!
