Okay so knowing the story about Peter Pan, this is how I look at the song, forgive me if I'm wrong but this is how I see it. The song is about kids who die and peter pan is the angel that guides them to heaven which is "Neverland". The song is sad but beautiful as well. "Then one night I closed my eyes" I would assume he/she was dying. "He sprinkled me in pixie dust and told me to believe Believe in him and believe in me Together we will fly away in a cloud of green To your beautiful destiny" meaning that Peter Pan is telling the child that everything is going to be okay and they the child should just believe in him as they reach their destination (heaven). "As we soared above the town that never loved me I realized I finally had a family Soon enough we reached Neverland Peacefully my feet hit the sand" the child is looking down at the city where he/she didn't feel like they belonged and felt like no one was there and then soon (which led me to partially think it was a suicide) the child then felt like he/she was loved and was where they finally needed to be which was with Peter Pan and never land. And then eventually the child had reached heaven. "Run run lost boy, they say to me Away from all of reality Neverland is home to lost boys like me And lost boys like me are free" is about how the child feels that he/she is free from all his/her problems. The child believes that Neverland is where he/she belonged and that this was the place where they needed to be free and happy for a change.
