This song could be about mistakes that the artist feels are unforgivable. "The world is a vampire, sent to drain" could refer to the depravity in the world compromising morality. The world "hold[s] you up to the flames" because the artist is blaming his sins on the nature of the world. The next two lines could mean that the artist sacrificed his morals for a good time. If this is the case, perhaps the artist got some girl pregnant and either left or she had an abortion, and in this way he relates himself to job (who killed his own son). The line "What is lost can never be saved" can either mean his moral image or the child he either neglected or was aborted. He regrets his actions, but they have him stuck in his current situation, "despite all my rage I'm still just a rat in a cage". The next verse he talks about his crazy, perhaps irresponsible s** life again. In the next lines he states that he wants to change his ways, and then he directs the statement "and what do you got, when you feel the same" at his lover. This is because he knows it is easier for him to walk away, but as for her, she is carrying a baby. "Tell me I'm the only one" that made this mistake. And finally, he believes he can't be saved for what he's done.
