The notion of manhood, the way that society pressures males to behave in order to be "real men" is an attempt to fulfill a self-destructive desire - the desire to be special, to be someone. This includes the desire to be needed, E. G. By women. It's said that women are, men are made; and this thinking is damaging to both sexes. In the case of men, it encourages macho, insensitive and brutish behaviour that not only makes one less of a real (hu)man, but will repel true love and a true sense of self. Women, being accustomed to being pressured to act feminine every day, see through this farce easily and the only way to find her is to "keep it real" and be yourself, just as she too struggles to do. It is about realizing the truth that you are not special; you are not a hero; you will die; in the grand scheme of things you do not matter but regardless, if you think for yourself and live a good life you will be special to someone. I'm not sure what cc machine refers to, though.
