Meaning
This song means so much. I love how it touches on the very meaning of freedom. You can apply it to both patriotic and spiritual standpoints. There is freedom in serving the risen savior. A lot of people don't understand how we can, as Christians, say that we are free when there's a definite outline of servitude that's described in the bible when it pertains to being saved and obeying God. Our entire purpose of existence is to praise God, to be in constant communion with him. We were built to serve. In Matthew 6:24 the bible says, No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Before I received the salvation of the Lord I was a slave to many things. Alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, and social standing. When I gave my life to him, he delivered me from all of it, yes all of it. I feel more free in who I am now than I ever did , "doing whatever I wanted". God doesn't just change your life around you, he changes who you are. He gives you a freedom you'll never know without him. That's what this song means to me. Let freedom echo through the lonely streets where prisons have no key.
