I think this song is mourning the death and at the same time praising the life of someone very close to Dez. Maybe the parent of a friend or relative. Also showing some sympathy for the person that stayed strong through their loss. We've all lost someone that made it seem like we lost a part of ourselves in them, that solid in your life. "you have such faith in life, cant tell how many times you 've given me my backbone" really hits home for me and the loss of my pap. Oo dreega pap! Devildriver is amazing!
