This is how I look at the song: it's like you've been through a lot of issues--- and it even got to the point of you two separating and never got back, like at first, there's communication which may lead to an emerging friendship (or whatever the relationship calls for), and all of a sudden, one of you stayed away from the other in which the other doesn't know the reason why. Yet, despite of everything that has gone through the two of you, no matter how much you wanted to hate the other, there's still a part when you wished you want to get along together. Like, why hate when there's nothing wrong?
That's just my two cents on the song. Because it tells so much about a part of my story.
