It's fairly obviously all about Roger Waters and the resentment that Gilmour had for him - Roger being the previous lead of Pink Floyd. The fallout they had was huge. They still not over it. Played at Live Aid I think sometime recently but Gilmour did not look at all happy. Hectic stuff that fallout. I am not sure what it was about - probably to do with Gilmour believing Roger had gone too far. And also not agreeing with the musical style. Final Cut - Gilmour refers to himself and the rest of the band as studio musicians for Roger's work.
