For the longest time, the topic of Catholicism and animals is not something one sees (or, rather, listens to) every day (or, rather, every week) here at Kwentuhang Pets Atbp. (KPA) of DZUP 1602. It would be nice to talk about the welfare of animals, or ways on how to take care of our dogs or cats at home. Policies and legislation on the rights of animals, or unique stories of pets and their human companions might be worthy of discussion, too. But for this episode aired live on 18 October 2017, I decided to take the leap and, finally, talk about what, I think, most Catholics today—both laity and ordained—often take for granted: how Catholic teachings regard the existence of animals (or what are called non-human animals).
