I think the song is saying that life is hard, and a lot of things are going wrong in the world, but nothing is going to change unless WE do something. We have to share this same planet, under this same sun, so it's up to all of us, we can't just leave it for someone else to do. Every day we can make history by our actions, by making the world a better place to live. If you don't like what you see, "get up, get up, get up" and do something about it! And especially if we do it together, "we become stronger as one."
