I feel this songs is about the very real problem of how many in the churches who feel they are on the "right" path can shun those who are not. Those who are troubled and alone are so very weak. So little is needed to give help to the hurting as a place to start. A kind smile of acknowledgement, a touch of the hand, a hi and how are you can be the seed that starts the hope growing. A simple gesture can make them feel they are not invisible and they matter. People who have made wrong decisions can feel that they are not good enough for the "church people" and when we don't reach out we just prove that point over and over again. Ask someone who hasn't placed their trust in The Lord and has made bad choices.
