What a great song. It's said in an acoustic version of this song that it's about a homeless man who lived in Dublin who brought a lady back with him oe night to where he slept. The song is imagining a conversation they may have had.
By the way, the lyrics here 'Would ya go ape shite' should be 'Would ya go away and shite. ' It's an irish expression :)
