I think this song is about breaking out of a rut, finally seeing the "beauty in life again." The title of the album is Undoing Ruin which is fitting because depression is a disease that slowly ruins what a person once was or could be. He talks about apathy, a lack of interest (in anything) to have taken so much from him. The divide he talks about is the wall we sometimes put up to keep others out. Sometimes our friends and family try, with no avail, to "show blind eyes and tell deaf ears" - which speaks to our unwillingness to accept the council of others. The landslide is his whole world seeming to fall apart around him and he says that if you can just "keep holding on" and keep hope alive you'll live to see the horizon. It sounds like he's talking about some significant other when he talks about being "engulfed in one another." Sometimes it takes a boyfriend or girlfriend to bring us out of a rut and once you have someone in your life like that you feel like you can "finally be free" and it doesn't matter if you're "basking in the over cast" or "walking through the rain," the love that person has given you can help you see the "beauty in life again" no matter what life throws at you. Awesome song. Darkest Hour is the best rock band out there today, and so underrated. V's up A's down!
