Lvguy, you are entitled to your opinions but I think you misunderstood xd! You're being too doctrinal / literal or maybe you misread the lyrics.
He's not talking about god trying to hide darkness and sin, he's saying that all the bad things like the devil, sins and the darkness tries to hide from god, and where would they go? In the Darkness where nothing can see them. He is the light that disperses the darkness that the devil brings about. There is a passage where it says that Men will try to hide their deed in the darkness, thought I can't remember in which book it is.
It's Darkness that's trying to hide, but they can't, because God sees all.
