I thought it meant that they had liked each and the beginning of their relationship was rocky b/c they thought they could get by on their feelings. But relationships are hard and she had a harder time opening up then she thought she would have. So the relationship ended but she still loves him. She wants him back now but she doesn't know if he still cares for her as he did before.
