Simple song, but simple is always best. You're taking your girlfriend for granted, she feels unloved and has had enough of things the way they are. She calls you to split up, you pretend you're someone else (yeah,right!), she eventually spills her heart out to you about her boyfriend, you tell her he cares for her more than she thinks. The ending is up to you. On the face of it a silly song, but the melodies will melt your heart especially if any of it resonates. This is the best thing the Rubettes ever did by a country mile.
