I believe this song can be interpreted many different ways. First off, I am pretty sure half of the lyrics of this song are quoted straight for the Bible. So that leads me to believe it is Christian inspired. Like a lot of songs, it can apply to his wife and children as well because most people believe that their love will last forever even past death, and that people will be reunited after death at least in most Christian circles. Not only will we see people that are saved, but we will meet our risen king Jesus Christ in all of his glory in Heaven. The things that never die are love, peace, faithfulness, goodness, and all the virtues that are good.
