Saint Peter is the patron saint of kings and leaders, therefore the king must have not been a good king, meaning that when the king dies, he will not be "called to heaven by Saint Peter". In truth though, Saint Peter calling someone's name is a figure of speech, so saint peter wouldn't actually call anyone's name when they die being a good king or anything. Watch out for more of my "Awesome!" explanations!

The king had obviously done something bad or changed the rules to rules that the people thought were ridiculous, and the king's actions were beyond belief. The people thought he should be put to death, which is why it says in the next line, "Revolutionaries wait for my head on a silver plate." Coldplay describes the shock of the people as unbelievable.
