Simply. She saw her parents lose love. And she'd never sing about it if it didn't exist. She's tired of being lonely but only one person is worth taking the risk. But deep down she thinks that love doesn't exist. And she knows that once they're done hanging out. When she wakes up he'll be gone. Because that's simply how guys are. But now she's on her way to believing that love exists b/c maybe he didn't leave in the morning.

To me this is a person who's let someone let them put "all your fear, and your shame" into someone. It reminds me of what I got into. It's because someone who you got involved with, got involved with someone who reminds them of their ex, so their letting all their "fear and shame" out on you. It's simply letting your fear out on someone. Whether they care or not. "hoping you'd set me free".
