Its about a girl who feels numb and disconnected from her life (happy birthday wihout her) so she turns to cutting, which makes her feel better. Of course it becomes an addiction and each time she cuts she gets closer to the "edge" of killing herself. Eventually she gives in. Its a beautiful song. I knew the german version for longer but had no idea what it meant. I love it because its so deep and I can really connect with it.
