My view on the song is he broke up with someone and he doesn't want that person to leave his life completely. He was going through something I think and he is going to try to work it out and needs a second to breath. He is trying to be everything that people want him to be and then they want him to be his self and then they get mad at him and that's what this song means and he is just trying to figure out you know what do you want from me.
