They love each other too much that they don't wanna hurt each other anymore. They just don't know how much they're missing. He loves her, but he doesn't know. She loves him, but then, she doesn't wanna hurt him again. The line "I can't like it anymore" -- trying to control and "And I love you a little less than before" -- they don't feel so crazy; they know they love each other but not as crazy as they thought so. Love is so powerful.
