There is no communication, either from one or both partners. It's simply easier to pretend that nothing is wrong, than to face the facts and realize that what is wrong is that neither of them can change enough to make it work out. And then one day, someone wakes up and decides it's just too dysfunctional and that it's not enough to simply go through the motions anymore, and tries to move on. There is no resolution, so the loss is unbearably sad, but at the same time, it's a relief to finally admit it, and move on. At least that's what it means to me.
