I thn its means like, don't attempt to tell them that being christian and believing in God is wrong. It says they are singing/composing music about this topic to an atmosphere that is mainly secular. "composing funeral songs not by note" they are making music that could be the "death" of them, because not everyone that listens is a beliver of Christ like them and don't belive what they have to say.
