When I actually listened to the words of the song, it really sank in. I'm going through the same exact thing right now. Therefore, I think it's about a girl who loves a guy but he only feels for her as a friend. As much as he knows how much she loves him, he doesn't have the heart to hurt her, but yet he doesn't have the heart to love her like she wants him to.
