I figure that if you are dissecting the lyrics, you might as well credit the actual lyric writer. Chris Tomlin had NOTHING to do with writing this song, as is the case with most of his big radio hits. It was written by Steve Hindalong/Marc Byrd and originated from the series of Worship albums that came out in the early 2000's, City On a Hill. It was sung by Cliff and Danielle Young from the band Caedmon's Call as the album series used a various artists format. The whole series was produced and largely written by Hindalong, Byrd and Derri Daugherty but there were other writing contributions by Mac Powell, Fernando Ortega, Julie Miller, etc.
