Ok, as Hazeldountlovesbullet, I didn't post meanings for this song for some reason. I'm explaining the American Idiot Musical song by song, though, and the meaning is pretty much the same. In the musical, She's a Rebel is combined with Last of the American Girls, right after Give Me Novacaine. This is my personal favorite on the soundtrack because it is sung by both Johnny and Jimmy - which is odd because its like listening to him argue with himself, because Jimmy is a really just a part of Johnny. Johnny is in love with Whatsername and sings Last of the American Girls as praise, but Jimmy cuts in with She's a Rebel, giving the song a negative connotation as he constantly repeats "She's a rebel and she's dangerous!". Whatsername is everything Johnny ever wanted, but Jimmy for whatever reason, doesn't seem to want them together. The next song is Last Night On Earth.

This is the former Hazeldountlovesbullet, under my new name! I'm explaining the American Idiot Musical plot, for anyone following. The last song was Are We the Waiting/St. Jimmy. Here, Johnny is still shooting up (obviously. He's an addict.), Tunny is freaking out because he's a soldier now and is scared out of his mind, and Will wants all the mounting pressureof impending parenthood to stop, so he just sits around getting drunk. They're all just screwing up, but Johnny is definately hit the hardest. The next song is Last of The American Girls/Shes a rebel. Its both songs mixed together (I'll explain why), but for this string of explinations, folly me to she's a rebel.

This is Hazeldountlovesbullet, under my new name. My old account was deleted. To Natli_fox_xx, no my prior meaning was not about the musical, just the album. This post. However, is about this song in the musical. Are We The Waiting/St. Jimmy comes after Favorite Son. Tunny has just enlisted in the army and left. Johnny, in his loneliness and depression, begins to listen to his alter ego Jimmy, and starts shooting up heroin, and Will is stuck at home, scared about becoming a father. The next song is Give Me Novacaine.

This is Hazeldountlovesbullet under my new name, explaining the American Idiot Musical to anyone following me. The last song was Boulevard of Broken Dreams. This song is actually sung by Johnny's friend Tunny. He can't adjust to life in the city, and begins to resent American 'values'. 'Favorite son' refers mostly to the generic all-American, and how corrupt he believes that person to be. Out of his frustration, Tunny enlists in the military.

My account under Hazeldountlovesbullet was deleted. But I'm back, explaining the plot behing the American Idiot Musical, which is a bit different from the album, as it has a few additional songs, and new characters. Holiday comes after Johnny and Tunny leave for the city, thinking everything will be better once they are on their own. They're having fun, having a rush, and thoroughly excited. But that ends pretty soon in Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

I am the former Hazeldountlovesbullet. My account was deleted. But I'm back, and explaining the American Idiot (Musical) plot, song by song. First was American Idiot, and now Jesus of Suburbia. In this song, Johnny and Tunny leave Jingletown for the big city, looking for some fun and life outside television. Will has to stay behind when he discovers that his girlfriend, Heather (who sings the part Dearly Beloved) is pregnant. The story continues on in Holiday.

Alright, many of you may know that the American Idiot album has been turned into a Broadway Musical, but a lot of people still don't understand the concept behind it all. American Idiot is the opener, sung by Johnny (known in the album only as Jesus of Suburbia), and his friends Will and Tunny. They are fed up with the suburban-american way of life, angry at the media-controled nation they live in, and express their frustration in this song, which is followed, just like in the album, by Jesus of Suburbia. (For anyone that read Hazeldountlovesbullet's explinations on the album, I am actually her. I had to create a new account because the old one was deleted).

I'm not about to spout my political ideas, here, as so many of you have. And fookedinny, you are awesome. If you look at what you wrote, it sounds dangerously close to the ideas represented in Farenheight 451, by Ray Bradburry. If you haven't read it, please do. The ideas of this song, that the media is controlling America, is what that book is all about. And if you pay attention to what Bradburry thought the future would be like, its a hell of a lot like what we have today - right down to 3D flatscreen tv's tha overtake our lives - and he wrote it in the 1950's.

So. Lyrics Mode apparently deletes your account if you don't log on for a while. This is the former Hazeldountlovesbullet. My account was deleted for some reason, so here I am as Sable_rage. I'll be posting updated meanings on a lot of songs I've already done, because there's a million ways to look at them all. Also, I wanted to share with all you Green Day fans out there that the American Idiot Musical did well in Oakland, and premiered on Broadway in April. The soundtrack is out now for anyone that's interested. I had a friend burn me a copy, and I have to say: it is the single most amazing piece I have ever heard in my life. If any of you thought rent had great music (I did), your mind will be blown.
