Michael Jackson, as the King of Pop, surely ruled the world to the point where he could seemingly command the seas to rise. He did replace a King "Elvis Presley", only to lose the crown later in life when scandals brought him down, with plenty of references in the song. The chorus could be foretelling Michael Jackson's premature death, having expired before St. Peter, the gatekeeper of Heaven, could call his name. This song can now be seen as an accurate description of Michael Jackson's last years.
