I think this song doesn't neccassaraly have to be about war, I think it's about life in general, about how we rise and feel good, just to get pushed back down by the people who really shouldn't matter. But don't be afraid of who you are/were. Show the scars, embrace what has happened to make you, as the song says, more strong. And song is called Broken, Beat, and Scarred. It is correct.
